    Firefox is much better.

    BUT ...

*** Please do not try to delete Internet Explorer. ***

Much as I hate to say it, IE is an integral part of Windows. If you need web support from Microsoft, you will need IE. IE is the engine that fetches your critical updates -- you never see IE open during the update process, but it is needed for the updates to occur. Without IE, your Windows will not be secure!

Both Norton and McAfee's antivirus programs also require IE to fetch their updates. Again, you don't see IE open during this process, but it is the program that downloads the update. Without IE, you will have to manually download and install updates to your antivirus libraries.

Besides, Microsoft has deliberately made IE almost impossible to uninstall.

So, use Firefox as your browser. Just leave IE on your machine.

Keep IE on your computer and keep it updated but you don't have to use it. Just set Firefox as your primary browser. If you try to take IE off your computer there is a good chance your computer may not work. Also you can run all the browsers you want. I would give some of the others like Opera a try because it doesn't hurt to learn how to run other software. I run Firefox 95% of the time and I also use Thunderbird email. I like all the add ons that are available for both programs. I use Outlook Express with MailWasherPro for my junk email accounts. Good luck and don't worry about having both IE and the Fox.

Computers don't "get internet" though a browser. The web is only one program that uses the internet; there are THOUSANDS of others.

In other words, it's your computer and your operating system (Windows, or Linux, or Mac OS X) that connects you to the internet, not your web browser. You can have a computer without any web browser, and still be connected to the internet, reading email, playing games online, etc., and yes... you can have a computer with only Firefox, and it'll use the web just fine. Internet Explorer is not special --- except maybe in the "special ed" sense ;)

But, on Windows, you can't really remove it, because microsoft don't want you to. Normally, you could, but they designed it so that windows will break if you remove it.

Yeah, you will be able to access the internet through Mozilla Firefox even though you won't have Internet Explorer. Your internet connection has nothing to do with Internet Explorer, si Internet Explorer is just an internet browser (like Firefox), so uninstalling it won't affect your internet connection at all.

Here's a guide on how to uninstall Internet Explorer 8:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

For any other version of Internet Explorer, just go to Google.com and search for "uninstalling Internet Explorer <add your version here (1, 2, 3, etc.)>".

I'm glad you decided on using Mozilla Firefox over Internet Explorer, in my opinion it's much faster and you won't get viruses like you do when using Internet Explorer.

    Cheers!

Yes, you are capable of running Firefox without IE. The latest windows version (7) even allows you to disable Internet Explorer entirely.

Internet is not received via an internet browser. The browser just displays internet content (think of all your other applications that use the net when you don't necessarily have an internet browser open... MSN/AIM, antivirus updates, etc.)

With that said, if you're running a windows flavored operating system, I doubt you can fully uninstall internet explorer, as it is usually part of the MS core. But hey, if you succeed, let us know. I'm sure I'm not the only curious one...

I love Firefox and you can have it or IE as your default browser but I also agree with the ones who say do not delete IE (even if you can) you will still get internet no matter what browser you use but

some things do not work too well on IE and if you call customer support on most any software they get pissy if you are not using IE.

I have both and just use FF unless I really have to use IE (which is rare)

No need to uninstall IE, just set your other browser as Default browser.

In your case in Firefox go to Tools -- Options -- Click on Advanced tab on the very right.

Then under 'System Defaults' on the bottom click "Check now" and if its not set as a Default browser yet click "Yes".

I advise to leave the box next to Alway check to see if FF is the default browser on startup" unchecked, otherwise it will keep poping up everytime you open Firefox.

Mozilla but you cant uninstall Internet explorer if there is one in add or remove programs that will just be an update and will only uninstall the update

You can't uninstall Internet explorer because it's a windows requirement, it's built into the system. You can run both IE and firefox though it doesn't hurt the system
