about the low percentage of late term abortions... part 1?

for those looking for source information...

http://www.abortionno.org/Resources/fastfacts.html

Update:

whoa! that's weird. the additional details became the main body of the question...

Update 2:

about 1% of abortions that take place every year happen after the 20th week of pregnancy. unless you think a woman would intentionally carry a fetus/baby this long simply to abort it at such a late stage in the pregnancy, you would have to agree that the decision to abort is most likely due to the risk delivering a baby would bring to the mother. do you agree or disagree?

Update 3:

harsh reality, your claims seem awefully suspicious. the fact that you know not one, but two women who waited that long to abort seems rare enough. then on top of that you know a woman who delivered at 22 weeks when viability doesn't usually occur until after the 23rd week, and even then the odds of survival aren't very good.

I'm pro-choice, but I'm going to have to disagree with your opinion on this one. I personally know 2 women who had late-term abortions simply because they couldn't make up their mind about whether or not they wanted to have a baby. Then they both complained about how much more it cost them because they had waited so long. I have a girlfriend that delivered at 22 weeks, and that child is perfectly healthy. Late term abortion because of the risk to the mother does happen, but why not attempt a c-section to save the baby? Then they at least have a chance of survival.

EDIT: One of the women was a welfare mother who already had 6 kids with 6 different guys. She lived in the trailer park up the road and told everybody her business. The second woman was actually an acquaintance of mine. She had a baby, and then found out she was pregnant again 2 months later. She asked me for all of my old baby stuff and several months later decided that one child was already too much for her and had an abortion. It isn't unheard of when you live in a town with an abortion clinic just a few bus stops away. The woman who delivered at 22 weeks is a true story as well. she went in for a pre-natal visit, and her water broke on the examination table. Fortunately we live close to a children's hospital with an excellent neo-natal ICU. They injected her son's lungs with oxygenated water, and he was in the hospital for 5 months. He is now a healthy 5 year old boy. Just because it's unlilkely doesn't make it untrue.

6% was health. My sister had to do that (it was late term). She is seriously religious and really wanted a baby and would have never got an abortion let alone late term if the baby had all of it's head. I really don't know why else you would go past 12 weeks.

More than likely, yes. I'm sure there are other reasons, but my guess would be the preponderance are due to health reasons.
