What if GWB had done absolutely nothing after 9/11?

What would be the bi+ch be in that scenario? 9/11 one yr later and we're hit again? GWB does nothing again. I really wonder what all these whining left wingers would be saying today? How come no one connected the dots? Who knew what? and when? Where was the CIA? That Bush should be tried for war crimes? He stood by and never did a thing to protect the USA. Endless congressional investigations? Mr Bush? Why was there no effort to get information about what these terrorists were up to? Even though we rejected FICA. Would it be an interesting scenario to have play out? Yes or no.

Update:

All you "he had nine months to stop it". What was he going to stop it with? Clinton destroyed the military, Jamie Garilic destroyed the CIA, and the FBI wasn't talking to anybody thanks to congress. Give up on that Bush could have stopped it garbage. No bodies buying it any more.

it isn't that he should have done nothing, it's that what he did has made a bad situation worse.

It would have been helpful if during the 9 months prior to 9/11, Dubya would have been attentive to the threat of terrorism, read the Presidential Daily Briefings outlining the intentions of bin Laden, and listened to the red alerts from the counter-terrorism authorities and the Clinton administration;s warnings. Richard Clarke, who was the only official to apologize for their ineffectiveness during the Bush years, wrote an excellent book regarding this subject (Against All Enemies: Inside America's War on Terror).

If GWB had done something before 9/11, rather than ignore warnings and demote the counterterrorism unit, perhaps there would have been no 9/11.

Regardless, we have no proof that whatever he did after 9/11 prevented anything. It is pure speculation. His invasion of Iraq certainly worsened our security situation.

Bush was warned about a possible 9/11 attack . But did Absolutely Nothing before hand as well.

I think the left would be reacting the same as they are now, it's not his handling of 9/11 they object too, or even the war. The fact the he beat them not once but twice is what causes the hatred. Thanks

btw, I think he handled everything in an appropriate manner.

Why do right-wingnuts always support their idiotic ideologies through hypothetical nonsense? In reality, GWB didn't do anything after 9/11 except lie about wanting to catch the perpetrator (Bin Laden) in order for his lie to attack an oil rich nation could take better hold...DUH!

If Bush had done his job 9/11 would have never happened. He had his eye on war with Iraq before he even ran. That was his only purpose in life.

Show me one person who said we should have done nothing after 9/11.

The problem was never that we reacted ... it was HOW we reacted.

we would be speaking arabic and women would be beat in the streets.

probably not, but we would most definitely have been attacked again. He protected us for the last seven/eight years, so i believe we dont have much to complain about. people who ***** about the war are ignorant. i am volunteering to go to war, because thats what it takes to keep you free.

would it be an interesting scenario? yes.

    safe? no.

He stopped trying to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. Essentially, he DID do absolutely nothing, because he chose not to do the one thing we asked him to do.
