Who should I cosplay as?

Um.. I'm willing to buy a wig, but I just kind of want the outfit be easyish to find like I don't mind cutting and sewing the clothes together. Just give me some ideas. However, please try to keep the eye color brown and the hair kind of natural colored since I don't know where to get a wig... Also I don't mind crossdressing

I've done about a dozen cosplays myself, been to six anime conventions, and I am a staff member at a con, so I have plenty of advice when choosing a cosplay.

    Anyway, here are my tips:

    Here's my tips.

    - Don't cosplay any character from these shows: Death Note, Inuyasha, Naruto, Bleach. These cosplays are EXTREMELY overdone, so even if you manage to get a good one, you won't be noticed at all next to the other 20 Narutos. People also get annoyed when seeing the same characters over and over.

-Wigs make cosplays look amazing!! They're worth investing in. Shows effort. But a bad/cheap wig can ruin the outfit too. Styling or dying your hair doesn't always work right, and then you're stuck with it. Ebay.com is the best place to get wigs (there's a seller called cosplaywigs or something, who has great cheap wigs).

-Try to pick a character you like, not some cool looking character from an anime you've never seen before. Trust me on this one, it's much more fun when you know who you are ;)

-Someone that fits your personality is not nesscary. A major point of cosplay is to be someone you're not.

-Try to cosplay someone around your age. Teens trying to cosplay adults or vice-versa, doesn't usually work. Body types are important(boob size/height).

-Also, where you're getting a costume from is very important. Are you ordering online? Or sewing it yourself? If you're making it yourself, choose a simple charcter, or a school outfit. You can also pay a local seamstress to make a cosplay for you (just bring photos!). Buying online is usually the best, since the quality is usually really good (ebay.com is the safest/cheapest site to buy cosplay)

So: Be original, wig is perferred, dress your age/body type.

Try looking through your favorite shows and pick out characters that suit you. Then, check cosplay sites (cosplay.com) and see if it's overdone. (You can do overdone cosplays if you want, but people are more impressed if you're something original and recognizable)

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't cosplay Misa from Death Note!!! She is currently the most overdone cosplay! And most look horrible! Girls like her because they think if they wear punk/goth clothes and have pigtails, they look like Misa.
