rappers, etc.. using the n word, does it water it down?

To me the n word being used as much as it is now, waters it down.

to recognize it for its true history is only to empower it more.

am i completely wrong on this ?

I agree, but it doesn't make it right for white people to say it. Listen to The Game "Letter to the King"

"The word n!gger is nothing like n!gga

Don’t sound sh!t alike like Game like Jigga

One came before the other like aim and pull the trigga'

One is slang for my brotha, one is hang and take a picture

The rope aint tight enough, he still alive go fix it

Pour some gasoline on him, call his daughters black bitches

Make him pick cotton, while they momma clean up the kitchen

The same cotton in white tees that’s the cotton they was pickin"

The fact that black youths use it so freely waters it down, yeah. But its still not okay to say it, the current generation knows nothing of the pain behind the word, hence the frivolous use. It's wrong, but what can you do?

I think it changes the definition and takes away from it's importance as a hate word! I'm Cuban but I don't think anyone but racist should take offense to it being used as a term of endearment... If said in a hateful way that is demeaning it is still a powerful hate word though just not as powerful as it was back in the day!

I dont really know. i think that racism is wrong in every single way if one race is offensive to the other they are just putting them self down. If someone says it to you they have no manners ect. treat others how u would like to be treated ect.

I say if you don't like the word, don't use it. Don't like music that has the 'n' word, don't listen to it. Don't like when a person uses the word, get over it. And I'm black.
