Christians: When exactly did Marriage™ become yours?

Marriage is just two people committing themselves to one another. It wasn't invented by God but by man. It shouldn't matter if they are the same sex. As long as they love each other. There a statistics showing that a child raised by a gay couple is just as normal or messed up(however you want to look at it.) as a child raised by a straight couple. Besides the world is over populated currently there are 6 and a half billion people on earth and by the year 2020 it is estimated that there will be 7 and a half BILLION people on the planet. at the rate were going we'll have to colonize mars just so there is room for all the people. Then there are all those children who need a good home. Most adopting parents want a baby. Most of the gay people I have spoken to who have adopted, adopted a child that was in foster care. I don't see the down side of letting gays get married. They can contribute to the economy as a married couple. They will want children so they will give homes to the kids who need it. There is nothing wrong with gays. People need to get out of a gay persons bedroom. What goes on there is none of there business. God said love thy neighbor. Not love thy neighbor , but only if they are straight. Nowhere in the bible does it say you be the judge. No jesus said judge not least ye be judged. Or let he who hath not sinned cast the first stone.

I am just trying to say that people only worry about the immortal soul. What you really need to worry about is the here and now. God wants us to love each other. So stop judging people because of the way they were born.

I'm a Christian and I don't have a problem with homosexual people :) I think marriage should be between a man and woman but just because someone believes differently than me doesn't give me grounds to be mean or say nasty things to them

Biblical marriage is *not* between one man and one woman. In the christian bible a married man can have concubines. A man can get a wife by raping a woman who then has to marry him. In war, men can kill all but virginal girls, and take them as wives. A man can have multiple wives: Solomon had 700!

In any event, christians don't get to define marriage for anyone but themselves. The U.S. is a secular, constitutional republic, not a christian theocracy.

Marriage predates christianity and came about to help society keep track of who's sons were who's. Simple.

Christianity co-opted the idea for the same reason. Remember that the RCC was the biggest landowner in Europe during the middle ages. It had to keep track of who was entitled to which bit and how much of their crop they had to tithe.

Marriage is not just for Christians. God started the marriage arrangement and He meant for it to benefit everybody. Marriage is about two people who complement each other. Two men (or two women) cannot complement each other because they are too similar. It seems to me that a lot of the gay marriage thing is about health insurance benefits, or Social Security. Employers are just not real happy about providing benefits for non family members, but a marriage would change everything.

anti-gay marriage Christians are hypocrites. the Bible has Jesus saying nothing about homosexuality but the Bible says that Jesus was quite clear about divorce. except in the case of infidelity Jesus said to get divorced and then remarried is to commit adultery, a sin no less grievous than homosexuality is suppose to be. you don't hear Christians demanding that divorced people be refused the right to get remarried. do you? in fact, divorced and remarried adulterers are happily welcomed in most Christian churches. anti-gay marriage Christians are a bunch of hypocritical bigots .

If marriage were purely a religious rite, then each religion could just define marriage however they want. However, the gov't has gotten into the marriage business. It shouldn't have, but it has; and as long as the gov't makes marriage a secular issue, then marriage is ALL OF OURS by virtue of the democratic process. I have as much a right to push my definition as you have to push yours.

They don't own marriage no one does they think they do , but that because they think they own the world
