Central India includes predominantly the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and to an extent Jharkhand. Geographically, these regions are high plateaus with mountain ranges in parts. Majority of these regions are forests and hence not inhabited. Also, the soil is usually rocky/infertile and not properly irrigated. This makes agriculture difficult and usually unprofitable. Thats the reason why you have less population.
