It's only worse if there is an angry, vindictive G-d. I know the opposite to be the truth.

  • I have no trouble telling people that I am a panentheist when it comes to the philosophical aspects of spirituality. I am very selective about who knows that I do so through a Pagan practice.

It's not a lie of omission if I am not sharing something that I don't feel another person is ready to hear, or is unable to understand. Tell them what they need to know, but why not keep a few secrets to yourself? I don't feel the mysteries are mysteries if they are meant to be shared with everyone.

I've always been quite cautious of that, since having some bad experiences where I was not so careful.

Coming from a non-Abrahamic perspective, it's more of an ethical issue than an issue of "sin".

Lying really isn't a good thing for any purpose, unless someone's life is being threatened. But humans will be humans, and tell little white lies for the sake of not putting themselves or others in any danger.

But really, why do you need to lie about your spirituality anyway?

Lying is not good in any case, unless a life is at stake

There is no "sin", as there is no God, Satan, Angels, Demons, Heaven or Hell, etc....
