Feeling of heart stopping?
What is it called when you feel your heart has stopped, and then started again?

I think you're describing a heart palpitation. I had the same sensation. I went to my doctor for it and told her it sometimes seems like my heart "skips a beat." She did bloodwork and an EKG, both of which were normal. She said healthy people can get heart palpitations, and that caffeine can increase their frequency. I have cut down on my caffeine intake and the heart palpitations have really decreased.
Of course, sometimes heart palpitations can be a symptom of a heart condition or problem, so it never hurts to go to your doctor to get it checked out.

I had the same thing happen to me. I went to my doctor and she ordered an EKG which monitors the contractions of your heart. My test results showed that I have a PVC which is basically an extra heart beat. It feels like my heart spasms, and then stops for a few seconds. Many people have this condition and they don't even realize it. It is not life threatening and can be associated with caffeine and medications. But just to be sure you should go see your doctor.

You can get that sensations for many reasons: some totally benign and some serious. Not to go in medical detail, I suggest your doctor who should order an EKG. You may also need Holter monitoring as the episode may not happen when being examined.
