Is this conformed according to christian source that Jesus was nude at the time of crucifixion?

I have read a news

"Controversy over 'Michelangelo' sculpture"

in this news videos shows crucifixion of nude Jesus.

Why this is not considered disrespect?

Why religious christians do not object to this?

Update:

Hey, I never meant to blaspheme. I am muslim and I find it disrespectful to show a great Prophet that way. However, we do not believe in crucifixion.

The Romans stripped their victims naked before nailing them to the cross - a final humiliation. In the Bible we read that the Roman soldiers cast lots for the fine garment Jesus was wearing. Jesus was almost certainly naked when he was crucified. The wooden figure of a naked Jesus is not disrespectful - it is accurate.

Jesus may well have been nude at the crucifixion. It was the Roman custom to show disrespect for condemned criminals, and publicly exposing their nakedness was likely part of the process. Yes, I am sure many Christians would object to paintings depicting a totally naked Jesus, but then they are generally pretty well down on nudity of any sort, from my own experience.

Fireball do learn the meaning of the word blaspheme for goodness sake!!

    It's a perfectly reasonable question.

As the Jews of that time (and still are) a modest people, it is unlikely that he would have been naked on the cross, unless like others have said, the Romans were humiliating him - but with all his family around? Perhaps even the Sanhedrin wouldn't go that far? We will never know.

Michaelangelo was a sculpturer who liked to push boundaries, to see what the stone or marble told him, to see what inspiration he got.

Tradition has it that Jesus had a cloth round his genitals (yes people he was human, he was a male) but I don't see what the issue is with this sculpture, bodies are nothing to be ashamed of unless you accede to the "body denying death cult" that is Christianity.

That's how they crucified people back then. They humiliated them. Is it really that surprising that Jesus was nude? Some men were even nailed in the groin. Bystanders were allowed to throw stones at them while they were on the cross.

The reason you see Jesus covered is for respectable reasons, not because that's the way it was.

All historical records tell us that Rome crucified people who were naked.

This was part of the humiliation of the ultimate punishment.

The Bible even tells us that the Roman soldiers divided Jesus clothes between them and then decided not to split the one piece garment so they cast lots for it.

So the Bible and history agree, Jesus was crucified, naked.

I've even heard highly respected theologians suggest this was the case.

I personally do not see it as blasphemy to wonder this, though I don't care to see people wearing a naked Jesus on the cross around their necks. Even then however, it's not up to me to judge.

But, if his accusers and executioners did EVERYTHING they could think of to humiliate him, (the Son of God,) stripping Him would make sense.

Many people Respect him. Many Artists show Jesus wearing at least something on his Lower Body. I, think that it is like that, is so that we are reminded of what he had to go through to save every ones Sins and so we can go to Heaven.

I believe the Romans crucified all in the nude.

The purpose of the cross was abject humiliation.

Well, the Romans were playing dice near the cross to see who would win Jesus' garments...

He never died for anyone. He was never crucified, nor was he ever resurrected. Still Christians believe their 'god' being crucified before thieves, humiliated and naked, helpless and foresaken......they have to make believe this way. If not Christianity is lost without crucifixion, a Jesus on the Cross.

The truth is revealed for all, in the final revelation of Allah.

[That they said (in boast) "We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary the Apostle of Allah"; but they killed him not nor crucified him but so it was made to appear to them and those who differ therein are full of doubts with no (certain) knowledge but only conjecture to follow for of a surety they killed him not.
