Can i use frontline (flea killer) one momma cat when she is nursing?

according to my vet and the frontline packaging instructions, you can use frontline on a nursing cat. I would consult your vet first just to get the ok from them.

I believe there are some flea products which are safe to use on pregnant cats. These are available from your veterinarian, so it is best to speak to him/her. DON'T ever use a flea product on a pregnant or nursing cat without the okay from your veterinarian.

You can give her kitten foodvas this contains higher protein & calcium. Avoid supplementing the diet unless your veterinarian has given the go ahead to do so.

Reminder - Female cats can again become pregnant within as little as 2 weeks after giving birth but more usually between 8 weeks and 10 weeks so great care that the queen is kept safely confined during this time.

Please have your cat spayed.

My mother was just asking me the same question about her cat who is nursing. Basically, the box says to ask a vet. Which usually means no.

There is a natural flea killer which is safe to spray on the cats (but the kittens usually need to be about 6 weeks old), the floor, bedding, and any other place you want to put it. I got it for my cats when we moved into this flea infested apartment.

I'd check out the spray and see what it says about kittens. If it has the same warning then you really need to talk to your vet about your choices.

I would wait. Consult your veterinarian for the best way to treat fleas on a nursing queen. Frontline, along with all other topical flea medications, absorbs into the skin and spreads across the body. The kittens, while nursing, may ingest the medication since their mouths touch the mother's skin, and become ill from it.

My vet says it is approved for use with pregnant mommas. Not sure about nursing mommas, afraid the kitties would ingest it off application site. That could be harmful. If you pregnant momma has a health condition you

are aware of, I would check with your vet first. Better be safe than sorry.

I don't think it is a good idea, but check the instructions to be sure or ask the good-looking guy at the Petsmart. Something you might try that won't hurt mom or kits is Brewer's Yeast. You'll find it at a feed store or that dreaded WalMart.

So if you are using Frontline Plus, I am guessing it should be fine. I would still check the documentation that came with it, and even possibly ask your vet to be sure. .
