Honestly, I don't believed on Togashi-sensei health issue excuse anymore. He's been using that excuse ever since he was working on Yuyu Hakusho. The fact is, he is one lazy ash manga-ka. > : |
Just read his random story on the extra page on YYH and HxH tankobon. We can clearly see and get a little insight of how messed up his life is before and after marriage.
Another fact is the Togashi-ism in Shonen Jump company. He got paid a lot more than any other mangaka working on the company. He is also being granted with longer vacations by the company - he can have as many time off as he wants! Yay for us! >_<
Also, unlike many other mangaka that used an assistant to help them drawing the background, a panel, shading etc - Togashi work all by himself! He didn't want (or refused?) to work with an assistant. That's why his drawing are inconsistent - sometimes it's good, sometimes it's terrible. You can clearly see that one on Hunter x Hunter manga though he fixed the quality on the tankobon released.
Another reason I might add here is ever since Yu Yu Hakusho, there has been a big disagreement between Togashi and the editors of Shonen Jump. Togashi's previous work Yu Yu Hakusho ended in the middle of one of its storyline because Togashi was too hostile toward the story policy favored by his editor. The story policy states that any popular manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump must continue uninterrupted and since Togashi is LAZY - he refused to follow the story policy!
The series is still put on hiatus though because both Togashi and the editors already agreed to released Hunter x Hunter 10 chapters for each tankobon released and he can take another hiatus afterward. I don't know how long will it be like that but eh, at least we get Hunter x Hunter.
Sorry for the long explanation but I personally liked Hunter x Hunter and a big fan of Togashi's work. I just don't like his attitude towards his series and his fanbase. I'm looking forward the continuation of the series and the return of its hiatus that will most likely going to happened next month.

About Code Geass, Anime News Network reports that the January issue of Animedia contained a quote from the production staff of Code Geass at Sunrise Studios
"All of you have shown us much appreciation and made the DVDs as well as the CDs so popular. Really, we have been blessed with fervent fans…. Thank you very much. Like we have said before, [a major character development happened] but Geass cannot die. It just ended, but we think it would be nice if we can still do something more. In any case, when we can announce something, in the not-so-distant future…"
Whether an actual sequel, prequel, or simply a spin off is unknown but definitely Sunrise is not going to stop milking the cash cow. We'll never know for sure.

The mangaka's health hasn't been so well recently. He also now has a kid.
They went on a hiatus.
