I would like to host an acoustic open mic night at a coffee house I manage...?
What is the bare minimum of equipment I would need to have available?
We are a small coffee house and are looking to create an intimate environment. Therefore lights, a soundboard/computer I don't think are needed. I am talking the BARE minimum.

A mic.
Okay, okay, serious answer. You need a staging area for 1-3 people to stand or sit on stools to play their instruments. If your coffee house is small enough, you probably don't need a mic & speakers, though you should have a place for people to plug in a few pieces of equipment and a table they could set a keyboard on. People will be more likely to come play if you have a place for them to advertise and a way for people to leave tips. If you can line up two or three people or "acts" that you know will for sure be there, you can be sure that your audience has something to see so they're more likely to tell their friends or come back next time.
