Help! I'm living with a slob! Can I say something to her?
A Turkish grad student recently moved into my apartment, about 3 weeks ago. I'm not a neat freak, but I like to keep things fairly tidy. I went away for the weekend, and when I came back, the entire bathroom floor was covered in black hair (she has long black hair, I have red hair, so clearly none of it was mine). It's disgusting! It's also on the countertops and the bathtub. I have long hair too and I know I shed a lot, but I make sure I throw it in the trash. I end up vaccuuming the bathroom at least 4 times a week. I don't know if she doesn't know how vaccuum or if she just doesn't care that her hair is everywhere, but how do I tell her that she needs to start vaccuuming without coming across as a *****??

Don't worry about coming across as a *****! Just tell her, and if she is offended she can find another apartment to shed in.

Well, you gotta be straight up with her. Especially if you share the same area as her. There's no other way around it...some people don't even realize what they're doing.. you can say something like please don't take this the wrong way, but i shouldn't be expected to pull all the weight around here. i'm not expecting you to do much...i'm not asking you to do much, but i'd appreciate it if you cleaned up after yourself when you're done doing whatever it is you do in there that leads to your hair being all over the place in the bathroom.
You really shouldn't be expected to clean after *her* mess. ...And if she just plain ignores you, threaten to kick her out unless she starts doing things and doesn't put everything on you.

Absolutely! It's your apartment. You can simply say, "It's important to have a living environment that's tidy and clean in every aspect so if and when we have guests, neither of us are embarrassed." Because in all honesty, nothing is more disgusting than using someone's bathroom and having hair stick to your feet, or seeing it all over the floor.

Well, you can either tell her or go on vacuuming.
I have long hair too. I genuinely don't realize that I shed sometimes. Luckily, my husband is there to remind me to remember to clear out the drains.
Maybe she is so used to it that she doesn't notice. Either way, you have to tell her.
No reason to be bitchy, just say, "Hey, wow. Your hair is long like mine. I think we're leaving hair all over the place. Do you mind helping me keep it cleaned up?"
After that, you can be assured that she knows about it, but gentle reminders every so often shouldn't hurt. Nobody's perfect.

just tell her like look im not trying to be a ***** or anything but it really be showing me respect if you could help me out vaccuming and if she says i dont know how or what ever just tell her look if i show you how could you help me out.
