Which is worse, a bit of AGW dissent or politicians hijacking science?

It is clear that debate about AGW continues with each side declaring that the facts support its argument. We see that debate played out here every day. What I find amazing is that so few in America are alarmed by the fact that Gore's film, “An Inconvenient Truth”, is allowed to be shown in America's K-12 schools as if it was the “only” view of AGW which exists. This film is clearly a politicized portrayal of AGW at the extremes. In Britain, a truck driver took Gore head on an won. The British High Court reviewed the film, listened to arguments from both sides and finally ruled that Gore's film was in fact more political than scientific. The court went on to state that eleven of the key points made in the film were either alarmist exaggerations or blatantly untrue. As a result of this ruling, when the film is shown in Britain, the key areas of dispute must be made clear to students so that they realize that the film has been crafted in such a way that it presents a politically one sided view of AGW. However, in America, parents have thus far allowed the Gore film version of AGW to be forced upon their children, without protest. Given the distrust of government which has been demonstrated historically by the political left, I am surprised that some concerned parents on that side of the aisle are not raising a stink about “Big Brother's” use of Gore's film to provide this - according to the British High Court - one sided alarmist version of AGW to be used as a propaganda tool to indoctrinate their children with this lopsided view of AGW! Why do you think that American parents have not challenged the use of this film in court as was done in Britain?

It's obvious that the British courts are not allowing themselves to be swayed by political pressure and I applaude them for it. Too bad the U.S. courts and public in general, are unable to comprehend that Algore and a very small group of questionable scientists are systematically misinforming all and sundry about "Global Warming".

Many of the more rational members of the scientific community have put forth the facts that what Algore and his cohorts are yammering about, is nothing more than an extremely long cycle of weather change.

Thanks for bringing the British view to light in the U.S.

Mostly 2. They fudge the science to support their agenda and suppress anything that doesn't fit the template. I'm surprised that most don't see that. Oh wait, maybe more are seeing through the fog. The latest polls show only about 30% still believe humans cause climate change. Maybe the truth is finally getting out. I noticed a funny thing with some of these answers. The self proclaimed "geniuses" on this subject now say that anyone who doesn't believe in this unproven hair-brained theory must suffer from a mental aberration or something. Now they're psychiatrists? LOL !! It's fun to pretend, isn't it? Y!A allows the insignificant moron to become a scientific genius.

I think it is a travisty that we as a country accepted his film as fact. The scientific community's job is to challenge things and see if the theories hold up to scrutiny. But they are all afraid of the political machine and won't look closer at the so-called facts.

It is a dark mark on science in the US.

Politicians see it as a way to get more taxes so they co-opted it for that purpose.

An inconvenient truth has some exaggerations. When you show it in schools in my county you have to show the version that corrects these problems beforehand. or tell them what is incorrect.

I'd rather have them learn about climate change than about something stupid like intelligent design.

Thats good. Al Gore has laid it out for those to see. His movie is the only real scientific truth out there

Can't be any worse than hippies hijacking science.

CO2 was not a poison until Algore made it one.
