Will my kitten settle down after spaying?
My kitten is 5 months old at the moment and due to be spayed in a month. The vet has said he doesn't want to do it any earlier because she has just had her first set of vaccinations and is awaiting her second set. At the moment I'm fairly sure she's in heat - loud calling, raising her rump in the air, treading the ground with her back legs etc. She's normally a very affectionate cat anyway so that hasn't changed too much. She seems very unsettled and when she isn't calling, she's meowing quietly constantly and generally seems unhappy. My question is, is this all related to being in heat, and will she settle afterwards? She's been in heat for the last three days or so.

I have two cats 8 months old when of whom was displaying the same characteristics, calling, trying to get outside etc. I actually stopped her going out because i didn't want her to get frisky with a tom which had appeared in the garden.
They were spayed a month ago and their behaviour has much improved since then, they are still affectionate but you don't get the negative behaviour so don't worry im sure she will be a good little cat once spayed.

Yes, kitty will settle down after the heat is gone. They are quite uncomfortable when in heat. Probably not unhappy, just uncomfortable! It seems like they are in heat all the time though! The meowing hardly ever stops! All will be fine - she's just horny!!! :)

Mine didn't.
You People are lucky, my cat got spayed, and she still acts wild and crazy, but without the characteristics of being in heat.
