Who Was Jesus of Nazareth?

Make no mistake about it, Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem during the waning months of the reign of Herod the Great, and who was crucified outside the walls of Jerusalem during the administration of pontius pilate, was no ordinary man. He was not simply a "good man" or even a prophet. While there has been much confusion for many centuries on the nature and origin of the One whom we know as Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Bible is very plain on the subject. In the very beginning He was with God the Father, and through out the old testament the Bible speaks of Him. Tell me in detail if you can, who was this Jesus Christ, He was also there when satan was thrown out of heaven, along with his angels..

Update:

Jesus Christ and Melchizedek, was one and the same?? Hebrews- 7:8, 14-17, 21-25.

    I believe the Holy Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God. As such we can find all truth in it according to God's master plan. It states in John 1:1-5 (King James Version);

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The Word is Jesus who is the light of the world, our Savior and Redeemer.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 Jesus took upon Himself a robe of flesh and became a man in order to die for our sins. Only His humanity could die, not His divinity.

Deut 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord" It continues in verse 5, "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." If the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary (Luke 1:35) then the Holy Ghost is the father and not God. There are many Scriptures that states that God is the FATHER. (John 3:16, Ph 2:11)

Eph 4:5 "One Lord, one faith, one baptism."

Col 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."

I John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three ARE one.

1Tim 3:16 "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."

(Luke 24:39) took on the form of man. As a spirit (which no one could see), He could not be sacrificed, as a man (1Tim 3:16 ...God was manifest in the flesh,...) He could be sacrificed; therefore as Emmanuel, God with us (Matt 1:23) became THE PERFECT SACRIFICE to take away the sins of the world. Now having flesh He is now part man and part God, (God being the Father, Mary being the mother) therefore a dual nature.

As Jesus was both Spirit (God being his Father), and Flesh (Mary the mother), it would have been impossible for Him to die as long as the Spirit dwelt in him. The Spirit had to leave the body for a period of time. The man, (Christ Jesus) prayed to God (super-natural spirit), in the Garden when He prayed , "... O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink, it, thy will be done." Matthew 26:42, and again in Mark 15:34, ".....My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?"

To understand this better let us consider, 1 Tim 3:16 --- And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. Isaiah 9:6 --- For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Jesus Christ is the Father in Creation, the Son in Redemption and the Holy Spirit in Regeneration, one God with 3 different and distinct roles.

His real name was Yahoshua [or pronounced Yeshua as some would claim].

The modern name corresponding to this one would be Joshua.

The Testaments, eyewitness accounts of people of those times which are recorded, say that He was born in the barn of the House of a Baker [Ba'it'lehem which in Hebrew translates as the House of a Baker, aka Bethlehem].

His Hebrew name would have been Yahoshua ben Yosef el Nazrany or Joshua, son of Joseph of Nazareth. There are some who claim that the town of Nazareth didn't exist then, but, I wasn't around at that time to argue for or against that. Yahoshua was an Essene, and their place was called Nasserath.

The name Jesus came from the mispronunciation of that name by the Romans [Latin] as is evidenced in the scroll reading INRI above His head in the Cross which stands for Isaevs Nazaraenvs Rex Ivodorvm. Or Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.

This further evidences that there was a town called Nazareth there as do the the many towns detailed in the Old Testament.

Whether He was the Son of God or a mere Prophet, is a subject of discussion as is the claim to what He was and maybe in Heaven.

I'm sorry, but, no one who has been there has come back to let us know about this subject.

Personally, I don't see how I could even begin to speak about Him 2009 years after the event.

What is available from the records, I can say exist.

    The rest is empty speculation.

Melchisedec was a "type" of Jesus, just as the proposed sacrifice of Isaac and the story of Noah and the Ark are "types" of the Crucifixion and of baptism and salvation.

Jesus was, and is, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Saviour of mankind and the First and Last. He is the Son of God.

Read John chapter 1, John Chapter 10, and Revelations 12 and 13 to learn more. For quick-reference turn to the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds.

He is God. John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God......" Verse 14 ....." and the Word became flesh......"

All things were created by Him. He is the Kink of Kings, Lord of Lords, the Alpha and the Omega, the Mighty Councilor, the Prince of Peace, the Mediator between man and God because he sacrificed himself for our sins, the Everlasting to Everlasting, he is the conqueror of sin and death for those that receive him, and the judge on the last day for those that reject his gift of everlasting life.

Get a Bible that cross refrences one verse to another and study it, seek him and you will find him.

For the Jesus bashers who made comments about your question, to them I say, please rethink what you are doing, you have no idea what you are doing or you would not do it. Everlasting is a long time, don't be in the wrong place when that happens. Don't take mine or any one else's word for it. The Bible say's that Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If you read it, you will understand. It also says that men perish because of a lack of knoledge.

According to history, Nazareth wasn't even a town in JC's time.

Nazareth is a corruption of the term Nassarene a sect of Jews dedicated to overthrowing the roman occupation and living rigidly by the law of moses.

Read John1:1-18. that ought to give you a fair idea of Jesus being based on an idea that he is one with god. He is of god and with God. they always co-existed since before time began. This man came to be the light of the world; "in him was light and the light was the life of all people." Jesus was a saviour of the people looking for a saviour.

    I don't know.

    A healer.

    Who needn't suffer that much.

I never understand why is suffering being promoted as a good value.

    While it can be avoided.

Strange how people first torture him very badly. And later promote his suffering.

What's wrong with that all? Really?

It is so simple to just have Heaven on Earth instead of Hell and waiting to be given justice somewhere after while missing your whole life.
