I don't know of the event exactly,

There was an event down in texas, where a college student started taking out people: 5 in less than 1 minute, from the top of a tower. After that, he didn't get very many because all the citizens in the area had guns, and fired back at him, to keep him low in the tower.

    Stories always are good intros.

Its how I got an 8 on my AP language essay. (out of 9, and thats really hard)

If you are looking for an "intro" and not the main theme of your debate, look at my answer. If you are looking for main points, look at the others.

Gun control is RACIST. Gun control is the foundation of Jim Crow laws. The US Supreme Court ruled that the right "to keep and carry arms wherever they went" is a defining right of a free citizen of the United States, which Blacks were denied at the time, and was proof that those who did NOT have that right were NOT free citizens and were subject to being enslaved.

The Constitution was amended in order to ensure that no particular class or race of people would be so disenfranchised again.

The most popular gun control laws, economic bans, (aka Saturday Night Special laws), carry and purchase permits, and proof of "need" are all KKK ideas from the 19th Century.

Well, what is the purpose of gun control?

Typically it is to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, or at least certain types of guns out of the hands of criminals.

    So does it?

    Does gun control work?

Has any gun control law once enacted measurably reduced the rate of gun related crime or does gun related crime go down due to other factors such as economic health and unemployment rates?

The evidence would seem to suggest that gun control measures have little if any impact on gun related crime. And why should they? Criminals by their nature are not law abiding people. If they want a gun they can and will find a way to get a gun.

Where do I begin. Adolf Hitler instituted gun registration then gun control to disarm the public so his stormtroopers could break into your house and do whatever they wanted. Good luck if you were Jewish. Personal safety. No study shows that a country that instituted gun control became safer and had a lower crime rate. If anything, the opposite is true. Australia, Canada, and England all introduced total gun bans and their crime rate went up. GENIUS!!!! Guns protect the weak from the strong. Those in wheelchairs, with physical disabilities, women, the elderly, all can fight off an attacker with a gun. Good luck using your fists. Outlawing drugs sure got rid of drugs huh. Outlawing guns will only result in criminals having guns and feeling safer attacking unarmed citizens.

Guns protect the poor. The rich have security guards, live in higher tax districts with more police protection, live behind gated communities, and live in better parts of town. The poor have nothing but their guns. Taking away gun rights is only giving rich people comfort of mind that the poor are unarmed and will never rise up against them.

During the LA Riots, the police retreated from the streets of LA. Who's going to protect your business and family now? People with guns. People formed their own posses to protect their businesses and families SUCCESSFULLY. Those without guns watched their homes and businesses burn down. The government will not protect you 24/7. LA Riots proved that.

There shouldn't be a debate. Gun control is bad.

    But since weak minded people will force the issue;

    As the first guy said-UNCONSTITUTIONAL

Look up gun crimes during the Assault weapons ban/Brady Bill and you will find that it had little to no effect on crime in the US

Try statistics on states with Concealed Carry laws and you will find lower crime rates.

Look into crimes committed by lawful gun owners

Aww just browse this site they will have what your looking for;http://gunowners.org/

Source(s): good luck and go get'm!

I would center the intro around how gun control affects the safety, and the experiences of how the constitution is relevant, to your age group.

When you outlaw guns only outlaws have them. Outlaws don't register their guns, outlaws don't follow perameters of what would be acceptable to the general public at large. Outlaws will sell weapons to minors and criminals and the mentally handicapped. In the Art of War Sun Tzu stated "know your enemy and know yourself and you need not fear a thousand battles". To outlaw any weapon within reason (assault rifles), you open yourself to being surprised by groups of heavily armed citizens because you didn't know they were there or how many arms they had or what they were armed with.

    1. Why would anyone expect a "war on guns" to be any more effect that the war on drugs is?

    2. Even, hypothetically assuming, we somehow destroyed every last gun in the country, how anyone expect to keep guns out when we can't keep tens of millions of PEOPLE out?

In the midst of a 34 year ban on handguns, Washington D.C. was the murder capital of the world in 1998. That would suggest that gun bans only affect citizens who legally acquire firearms.

Hitler, Stalin, Castro, Pol-Pot, Mao Tse Tung, & Kim Jung Il all agree that control works. So, if you want a totalitarian government, take away the citizens right to be armed.
