Used Seafoam...Now Car Won't Stop Smoking?

Hi, I used seafoam as directed, 1/3 in my gas 1/3 in my oil and 1/3 in the brake booster line of my 1992 Nissan Stanza that has 159,000 miles on it. Now the car won't stop smoking. Any ideas on why?

Update:

Thanks guys, I just got back from a driving it around for a couple hours and it eventually quit smoking and is running alot smoother and quieter.

I used 1/2 in the oil and 2 oz per gas fill up, really can not tell it's done anything. You don't say how long you've run it since the treatment, may take a couple tanks of gas, or so. Have you changed the oil again? I would get in touch with them and complain! See what Sea foam says/does. Maybe it's like Lucas oil products, sounds good but it foams to a froth and looses it's stuff. I tried STP synthetic oil when synthetics first came out, my car started using oil then.

Ok, It depends on how much smoke you're blowing out. Ifs tons and your filling up the road as you go. You could have more of a leak than just rings. But if its a little and not that much, The only thing you can do is move to a higher weight of oil. if you put 10w 20 in it. use 10 w 30 or even more protection 15w 40. Not diesel, just gas engine oil. Its a thicker oill and it will cause less blow by into the cylinder past your rings. When you take it to the lube shop and change the oil, they aren't going to probably advise it, but i promise this is what works. Its not a fix, its just to keep it from smoking and allow the car to run longer. To fix it, It will cost probably new rings. That could cost you 2000 to 3000 dollars of work or more. Its and expensive procedure.

I know seafoam says "o2 sensor safe" but perhaps it fouled your o2 sensor or maybe a sensor in your intake. Maybe MAF or intake air temp or something along those lines.

I'm curious about seafoam myself, your question prompted me to ask my queston, maybe you will find some help there, check it out: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200905...

Its probably burning off all the carbon that was in your engine and exhaust manifold, as well as the product itself.

How long has it been smoking?

YOUR CAR WILL BE FINE YOUR JUST BURNING UP A BUNCH OF CRUD. I USUALLY POUR IT DIRECTLY INTO TRHE INTAKE BUT YOUR WAY IS MORE PRODUCTIVE

You could try the patch, pills, hypnosis, etc but once a smoker, always a smoker.

as for the oil. flush the engine and change the oil and filter. as for the gas it will burn itself out.
