Why do non-believers deem in necessary to apply insults when debating Christianity?

This doesn't seem to paint the picture of one hypocrite being better than another hypocrite. Isn't it obvious that all people are hypocrites? And, isn't it obvious that Christians earnestly attempt to rise above it?

Christians are not earnestly trying to rise above their hypocrisy , they live with hypocrisy . Every one is a hypocrite some way or another , even this question . = ) no offence .

And yeah , Atheists seem to like insulting all religious folks , it just happens that Christians are the majority that is why they take most hits .

    Peace

I am a Christian and to be honest, a lot of Christians aren't trying to rise above anything. Their talk is just that. A lot of Christians are insane people using the Lord's name as a cover up for the insanity things they do. How can you rise above anything when you keep doing the same stupid stuff time and time again.

The church isn't the sick one Jesus came to make well since the church only want him when it is convenient to them. It's one thing to be sick, but it's another thing to be just plan insane. Only a insane person would do the same crap over and over again and think it's ok.

I know that myself, when I am angry I insult people. I can see non-believers being angry because they can't prove their point against Christianity. Just as Christians can't prove that their God exists. It is all a matter of faith. I find it ironic that most non believers are all about free speech, but try to shut down Christianity in the public forum. It is true that it is hard for anyone to escape hypocrisy.

How do you figure that christians earnestly try to rise above it? They throw insults and demean everyone who doesn't believe as they do. We are all guilty of that from time to time, but as a group, christians seem to do more than their share of insulting others.

attempt to rise above it?!?!?!?!?! Have you been paying attention for the past 80 years (the rise of evangelism)? You guys are the biggest hypocrites that ever hypocrited beginning with complaining about any kind of persecution at all when YOU ARE THE MAJORITY and you dish it out to homosexuals so much.

What you interpret as an insult, is merely us applying satire to your beliefs in order to highlight the absurdity of them. Many of us, myself included, believe that religion is DANGEROUS and we would prefer that you were overcome with logic and did not practice it anymore, that does not mean that we don't support your rights to practice it, we simply would rather you didn't, personally.

    You're kidding me right?

I have never in my life received more abusive insults than from fundamentalists on here.

No it is by no means obvious that christianity tries to rise above it. They are responsible for some of the worst offenses by far.

thats what happens when you believe in a religion full of atrocities.

    Yes. Atrocities.

Christians aren't the only ones who attempt to rise above it, and not all of them attempt it.

It's a bit difficult for a Christian to earnestly do anything when 75% of all convicted criminals are Christian. And history is littered with their many crimes and atrocities against humanity.

I am sorry for people who have a belief in a totally unsubstantiated fairy story and then claim it as absolute fact and are responsible for morality. They are completely barking mad.

What would you have us do, be just as idiotic and goad you on with your absurd fictions. People have tried reason, logic, objective science

but you can't make the barking mad see the truth. You set yourselves up for it. :)
