Pain Meds, Cloud Nine, Need Feedback/Input/Suggestions?

I got an MRI 2 weeks ago on my lower back and the results were not good. I have 4 bulging discs, 2 herniation's, arthritis and minor stenosis. This is following a laminectomy 6 years ago. I refused another operation, so they referred me to a pain clinic. The injury occured while in the military, 7 years ago.

The doctor there placed me on 10/100 Vicodin, Gabapentin 300mg 3 times a day, and Meloxicam 15mg 1x a day. The pain is completely gone, but I feel like I am in a different world most of the day.

My question:

Will my body adjust to the medications or should I just get used to feeling like this. I am 33, and chances are that I will be on pain killers the rest of my life. Has anyone been on these meds, what was your experience?

As far as the Vicodin, I understand the addiction potential so i only take 1 a day in the morning to reduce the chances of addiction. I was on Vicodin before the surgery for over a year and stopped without any issues, so I am not too concerned about that part of it.

Give me some input please.
