    Because, the baddies are hot!

Anyway, I think most people, myself included, still had hope for Draco after the whole refusing to kill Dumbledore thing. And he didn't turn Harry in! But in the end, and to our disappointment, he was nothing but a coward.

I don't know why I was so surprised, I mean...I knew he was no good. Damn it! It's so unfair!

First off I would like to say that Tom Felton, although attractive annoys the crap out of me in the movie versions. I know it isn't his fault, the ones that write his part just make him look so much like a pansy and a coward, which his character is actually supposed to be, but it just annoys me slightly.

The book just shows more of the complexities of the character, but I digress. I genuinely like Draco as a character, because he has some good lines, in the books. He also comes into his own as all the rest of the characters, I do not enjoy his racist tendencies, but I know why they are there. By book 6 he is facing the reality of being a follower of Voldy and it scars the crap out of him. He, even being a guy that shares some of voldy's visions, knows that voldy is truly a mad man and needs stopped and he knew Harry enough to know that he would be the only one to do it. I believe that is one of the reasons he pretended to not recognize them when they were captured and taken to Malfoy manor. He didn't even put up much of a fight when Harry took the wands from him in their escape from malfoy manor. He didn't try to kill Harry at the Castle and when they were trapped in the room of requirement with the fiendfyre, Harry saved him and didn't hurt him. Harry started to see that Malfoy was selfish and horrible, but not an evil person like voldy when he saw the hesitancy on top of the tower when he aimed to kill Dumbledore. In the end the trio owes Malfoy a life debt, from the manor and malfoy owes the trio a life debt from the castle and Harry also owes Narcissa a life debt. So they are in each others debt and I am sure that is annoying, but it shows that although the malfoy's sparring Harry's life is backed by selfish motives it also shows they are not wholly bad, which is what makes him different than that of Voldy.

Lastly, Draco is a creature of comfort and a slytherin, Voldy made his life uncomfortable, he liked doing nothing and having lots of money, all he really wanted was that back and he knew to get it back he had to get rid of voldy, so selfishly done, but it also kind of makes him human and in his humaness, forgiveable. There is a quiet respect between Harry and Draco, hence the respectible nod shared between them on platform 9 and 3 quarters in the epilouge.

Yes long and drawn out answer, but hope it helps.

Source(s): One last thing, I never liked Lucius, he is more like voldy than draco and he is a horrible *ss to his family.

Well I like the guy that plays Draco Malfoy in the movies. But Draco in the books is sooo bloody annoying.

But I can understand why people might like the Malfoy's. I usually like the bad characters or the funny characters best, I'm attracted to the bad guys lol. And the funny guys like Fred and George :)

    Movies:

Everyone loves the bad boy! He's mean, cool, dark, and Slytherin, not to mention attractive to most people! He's also scheming and clever.

    Books:

Same as the above: Who doesn't like the bad boy? Mostly in the sixth book Draco Malfoy's pain is understandable and real. His stress to complete the 'impossible' mission to save his family from being killed by Voldy raises the respect for him considerately. It makes him seem a bit more noble too. And, he's funny, scheming, clever, mean, cool, dark, and Slytherin!

Just my best guesses. I like him a bit too.

Well, I like Draco because despite the fact that he is the "bad guy" a lot of the stuff he says is funny. Half of my favorite quotes are from Draco and one from Lucius. They are the guys you LOVE to HATE.

"My dear man, please believe me, I have no pleasure at all in being inside your--er--d'you call this a house?"

    • Lucius Malfoy

". . .everyone thinks he's so smart, wonderful Potter with his scar and his broomstick--"

    • Draco Malfoy

    Cause

    1. Tom Felton is hot

    2. His hair is all blonde and slick or whatever and there is a lack of blonde people!

    3. Some chicks like the dark-side people, I know my Harry Potter friensd are slytherins (I'm Ravenclaw; it's not that we're better than you (except that it totally is))

    :)

I never understood that. But alot of people find the whole bad boy thing kind of appealing.

I personally thought Draco and his father were pathetic wimps. But they're still very well-written characters and the book would not have been the same without them.

Personally, I don't. I think they're both prejudiced jerks (sorry, D4 and L4). They make the story interesting, though. I guess they like Draco because he's kinda hot. No idea why people like Lucius though.

    I like him because he's a good character -- he's kind of like a minor antagonist -- I mean, he's not Voldemort, but he's kind of like a bully... I don't know, I just think he's needed.

Plus, as seen (or read, I guess) in the 7th book, we start seeing that he is human, and he has a heart. He's a good person.

EDIT: I really don't like Lucius Malfoy, but I think he's a good character.

We always need someone who is annoying and snobbish but who we also like.

I mean, I (emphasis on I) do personally do not like Malfoy. But he's sort of a whinger and, let's face it, he contributed making books 1-4 interesting.
