another qyestion about hooking laptop to tv?
ok, im considering a new flat screen. the laptop has a VGA connection. all TV's im looking at have S video and HDMI imputs. But the higher teir in price have VGA, My question is, Should I get the TV with the VGA or is that not even an issue since I could use the S or HDMI? I am most concerned about resolutoin. The TV is panasonic models. (42-46") thanx

With out knowing all the specifications I would guess that your laptop needs to be upgraded before being able to properly utilize your HD set (whichever one you choose). Presently only DVI and HDMI are pure digital outputs The VGA SVGA and other variations are all analog based. I do not know of any laptops that have DVI outputs but presently there are quite a few laptops that use HDMI outputs. I hope you have luck finding a solution. Perhaps there is a analog to Svideo converter that might work or some other adapter.

Yes, make sure you get a VGA (also called RGB or "PC" input). Most HDTVs do have this input. S-Video is poor video quality. VGA and HDMI are excellent.
