Door handle on ford focus not working?

I have just replaced a door handle on a focus, it cost £12.50 second hand ( breakers yard off the shelf ) it took half an hour you will need a cross head screw driver and some torx bits ( those star shaped bits ).

Undo the screws in the handle by prising the piece of plastic of the diagonal bit of handle (2 screws) there are screws under the pocket as well so dont miss them, you might want to remove the plastic form the top of the panel behind the mirror.

When you have got all the screws out you might want a blade to hand as they mastic these panels on as well now and as you pull the panel away you want to cut this mastic (dont panic it will restick).

Once the panel is off, you will need the torx bits look inside just where the handle is and you will see the screw(s) to remove the damaged one and replace it.

sometimes the door will not open at all other times you have to pull out the handle all the way and hope it opens,

i opened the interior panel and i see that the bar running from the handle to the lock in the side of the door has a tread at the top of it,

i was wondering if anyone knows how...

It's not the door handle, thats the problem..!!! its what the door handle is connected to, and if your not mechanicly inclined, see a mechanic..!! most likely, you will have to take off the door handle to fix it, and thats a job..!!! try spraying WD-40 on the door latches, the latch is on the door about half way down,and spray the brakett it connects to.

im sure its just grooved but the clip at the end can be adjusted by spinning the right way if its worn it might slip back down

superglue it back on if it comes off or use hard as nails
