Why won't my computer recognize my iPod?
I'm using an old iPod Shuffle (the kind that were so small you can clip them onto your clothes) and I have it charging. The problem is that when I turn it on, my computer isn't recognizing that it's there and neither is iTunes. I have checked the USB port and they are all fine, the iPod works, why won't it recognize it? I don't even care if I have to reset it to the factory settings, someone just tell me what the heck is going on! Please and thank you.
The iPod is not broken. I charged it and it works. If it came with a disk then I lost it in a fire...
I just don't understand why when I usually plug something into the USB that it recognizes it right away but it won't with this one.
How can I restore it to the factory settings if it won't show up in iTunes?

If you are sure that your USB cable is no problem, then the problem is probably on your iPod and you maybe need to update it. Like any other electronic gadget, the iPod will eventually run into a glitch or two, and just like your case. However, if updating your iPod still doesn't work, you might have to resort to restoring your iPod. This means it will be reverted to factory settings and you will lose everything on the device. If you have all the information on your iPod saved on your iTunes program, you will be able to add everything back to your iPod once the restore is complete. If you haven't saved the music or other items in your iTunes, however, you just might have lost them for good. So before do that, you should have a think. And if after that, your computer still won't recognize your iPod, it's time to throw in the towel and contact Apple about sending in your iPod for repairs.
