What secular or wordly songs touch you in a spiritual way?

Even though they are not considered 'religious" songs, there are songs in several genre's that have a powerful impact & touch your spirit.

The greatest one for me is Louie Armstrong's It's a wonderful world. It tears me up every time I hear it, it just reminds me how powerful & wonderful God is & how important love is.

The Rose Garden of Eternity- Secret Chiefs 3

  • The song"Mad world"and most of Enya`s songs. And recently I came to listen to "Life is a flower"by Ace of Base, completely by inadvertance, a swedish pop band which were popular in the 90`s.Now I`m not so much into pop songs, but I found the lyrics of that particular song meaningful and touching, unlike most.

My immediate response is "Love changes everything ..." from Aspects of Love.

God is Love. He changes lives.

    Love for others. Changes lives.

With love nothing can stay the same.

The above words are my thoughts. I get a serious bout of goose bumps when I hear that song.

It is one of those songs you could turn around and give back to God as a praise song.

Oh, and the "Deck of Cards". I forget the artist but even before I became a Christian it always made a big impression on me as a child. It is about a young soldier who goes to a Sunday service and pulls up his deck of cards and lays them out.

The Padre asks why he is playing cards. The soldier says that he hopes to satisfy him by the purity of his intentions since he has neither Bible or Almanac. He then goes on to describe different aspects of the Bible that he remembers when he sees each card. Going from King to Ace he counts down. It is a moving and haunting song. I wish I could hear it again.
