Question about lower back pain while laying down?
I don't know if it even has anything to do with it but the extra information might help someone to help me. I had a little girl (Addison) on February 28th of this year via C-section with a spinal. I was on bed rest since mid November. After I had Addison my lower back was a little numb but was told that was normal with a spinal. I went about my business since then and hadn't really had any problems but for the last three weeks by back is KILLING me. There is very mild discomfort when I'm standing or sitting but when I'm laying down to go to bed it doesn't matter if i'm on my side with a pillow between my legs, on my back with pillows under my knees, flat on my back or on my stomach, my back is in more pain then when I was having Addison. I hurts to move, talk, and breath if I'm in a laying position. When I wake up in the morning it will hurt for about half an hour while I start to move around. However, it hurts almost the instant I lay down and get worse through the night. I never took the pain medicine they gave me after my c-section because I don't like taking pills but I have been taking them for almost a week now and they help for about two hours but then I wake up with pain so unbearable I can't go back to sleep. I told my doctor about my pain and she didn't seem to think much of it and said it was probably from holding and playing with Addison. She prescribed me an anti-inflammatory medicine but it doesn't seem to be having any effect.
I am asking this question to try to get some advice on what I should do now. I would like to resolve this at home if possible since with the new baby expenses are tight.
If anyone needs any more explanations just ask and i will amend my question.

Lower looks like you have a lower disc problem. Due from pregnancy and bad posture or from your job. This can be easily corrected.
Have it checked first and confirm the lower disc problem. Disc in your spinals are coming out or misaligned. So when the bones that's misaligned due to the rubber-like substance that's supposed to be staying in between the two spines or bones are pulled in, the rubbing of the bones are giving you pain. If you will not have this checked as soon as possible, you will also suffer from siatica which is the pain in your upper right leg. And then, you have 2 problems to worry about.
After you have the back pain confirmed, you have to go to the therapist to alligned the misaligned disc.
If you have no insurance, do this exercise.
If it's not a problem, lie face down, put your 2 arms facedown in front of your chest and push yourself up till you can. The secret is to push much much more higher till you can't push no more. This will hurt a bit but it will correct the misalignment. Somebody has to push you down on the lower back while you are pushing yourself up. Do this 3x everynight or when you have time during the day. This is what I do when i have the lower disc pain. I had it because I did too much martial arts, flying fancy kicks and too much rotation on the torso part. This is also what bruce lee had. So, don't worry, this is no big deal.
When you are doing the cobra (the exercise I told you to do above) do it very carefully and slowly - don't jerk yourself and don't just let yourself fall from the up position. No matter how it hurts, don' drop yourself. Just let one push up down gently, it's necessary.
Good luck.

Yep, that's part of your problem....I was a UPS delivery driver for 26 years and I still have a bad back. If it was an on the job injury you should have medical coverage. Seeing the doc and a physical therapist is the place to start. There are alot of stretching exercises they can give you to do. I find that alternating with cold packs and heating pad help. Do not sit with the heating pad for an extended time. I also find that walking helps.....sitting or laying too long makes mine worse. Everybody's situation is different so it's best to start with the doc. Good luck

Back problems are all too normal after carrying a child, which is why a lot of docs will brush them off. If it is hurting you this badly be insistent with your MD. There may be some easy ways to alleviate pain at home, such as stretches or strength training... some of them even using the weight of your baby in the exercises so it doubles as bonding time! Ask your MD again... best of luck! Enjoy Addison
