How did Pirates handle their dead?
I'm writing a pirate story and at one point, the Quartermaster is killed in an attack. If a valued member of a pirate crew is killed, would his crew bury him ashore or is he put over the side? The story is set in the early 1700s Caribbean.

Here is an interesting historical fact for you story. Pirates took the gold earring from a dead shipmates ear to use for his funeral. That's the reason Pirates wore gold earrings so that when they died their buddies could give them a proper burial.
