What plants are classed as cannabinoids besides cannabis?

It turns out that cannabinoid is a broad term with different herbs being in different classes of cannabinoids, the broadest class being those that interact with cannabinoid receptors. It turns out that cannabinoids have many medicinal applications. What other plants are cannabinoids besides cannabis?

Update:

Head shops sell herbal blends that are called cannabinoid blends. I don't know what class of cannabinoids they have, maybe they have chemicals that interact with cannabinoid receptors or have effects similar to THC. There is a poll on a drug forum asking what people's favourite cannabinoid blend is. Some herbs have THC-like effects, probably activating the cannabinoid receptors which are the most common form of cannabinoid receptors in the body accoring to wikipedia. I'm trying to find out the names of plants that contain cannabinoids.

Update 2:

The U.S. government patented cannabinoids as an anti-oxidant and a neuroprotectant. Does that sound hypocritical to you after their anti-cannabis propaganda?

Update 3:

Yes i'm looking for a legal alternative.

Cannabis is the only plant that contains canniboids BUT I know exactly what you are talking about and I will explain how it all works for you.

There are some drugs and these are RESEARCH CHEMICALS that are similer to THC but usually alot more potent, you can get these in pure form usually form 'underground' vendors.

Now what also happens is people get blank herbs and 'lace' them with these cannabinoids and you would smoke them insted of marijuana. People home make thier own or companies like Spice do them on a mass scale.

THESE DRUGS AREN'T LEGAL ... listen to how it works here. Marijauna IS ILLEGAL. Now Alcohol is LEGAL. But these RESEARCH CHEMICALS are 'just chemicals' that are sold as plant feeder and not for human consumpton and this bypasses the law so it's a grey area.

I have used in pure form JWH-018, which is one of the better cannibanoids. Give and take I was dealing with 20mg ORAL, so I did about 5mg, 1.30h+ later nothing, did another 5mg and something like 1.20h+ later nothing so in the end I did 10mg and shortly after a while I experienced the worse experience as far as drugs go.

I felt like I was going to die, the paranoia was insane and I started sweating but that wasn't it .... THEN it started kicking in, my heart pounded like hell (I've done stims. before so I should know) I began to shake ... so I spent 2-3 hours lying on my bed feeling like I was about to die and within minutes that went away and I was coming down and felt nicely stoned for a bit.

I will probably do 5-10mg oral next week and see what that is like but I wont do any more even after 5 hours, this stuff seems to take it's time to 'kick in' If smoked you need something like 1-3mg. This kind of measurement is impossible to eyeball and even weigh unless you spent alot of money of a good set of scales but I am talking about pure stuff here.

The moral is ... don't go thinking that these research chemicals are weak, crappy versions of the real thing as they can **** you bad.

Now onto Spice. Check out Erowids (drug database website) vault. If you do try Spice (I aint tried it) start very low and give it some time as it could all hit you at once.

I read, I think on Erowid a guy who had a bad experince like mine and ended up in hospital ... and do you know what his doctor said?? Why couldn't you of just smoked Marijuana insted and this would not of happened.

So NO other plants have other drugs like THC in them, the others like JWH-018, JWH-073 and a tonne of others are all research chemicals and are made in a lab and the long term effects are unknown.

Bottom line LEGAL ALTERNATIVE: YES, SAFE ALTERNATIVE: NO!

Cannabis is the only plant that contains cannabinoids. They are known as "herbal cannabinoids". Cannabis is not classed as a cannabinoid, instead, cannabis contains cannabinoids, defined as substances in the plant that activate cannabinoid receptors in the body. Endogenous cannabinoids are produced in the human body and in other animals, and synthetic cannabinoids are produced in a lab (Marinol, Sativex)

Where did you get the idea that 'cannabinoid' refers to 'different herbs' ?

A cannabinoid is the kind of CHEMICAL that is active in cannabis, but not in other types of herb. (Cannabis contains many different 'active' chemicals, but those that were first identified in other plants will be known by other names)

'Cannabis' is the name of a family of plants, of which some contain significant amounts of 'psychotropic' drug, and others do not. This may have been misinterpreted by your source.

I believe they must occure in other plants with THC properties and would think they would surely be in those hallucinogenic mushrooms like Psilocybin liberty caps or flyer garric toadstools but I am not an expert.

Although Tests show this active ingredient Tetrahydrocannabinol has been linked to preventing cancer tumors maybe that's why the government don't want us to smoke it.

The thyroid gland is situated at the front of the throat, below the Adam’s apple. It comprises two lobes that lie on either side of the windpipe, joined in front by an isthmus. The thyroid gland secretes hormones to regulate many metabolic processes, including growth and energy expenditure. Hypothyroidism means the thyroid gland is underactive and fails to secrete enough hormones into the bloodstream. This causes the person’s metabolism to slow down.

Can you not tell by the name that the chemical refers to cannabis.

Other plants containing drugs (like Salvia) have their own name for their active ingredient
