Allergic to milk and soy, what can my child drink?
My daughter is allergic to milk and soy, so right now we are having to buy the super expensive formula. My question is, what will she be able to drink after she doesn't require formula anymore?

My son is the same -- he drinks goats milk. You can find it at most any store now: Walmart, Kroger, Martin's, etc. He also drinks rice milk, when I run out of the goat's milk. I also give him a calcium supplement to make up for what he's missing. I also try to put things in his diet that have a lot of calcium, like: salmon, broccoli, spinach, etc.
Just a side note, allergies can come and go, so she may just outgrow them! Wouldn't that be nice? =)
Good luck to you!

My son is the same way - he currently drinks Nutramagin. It's really expensive, but we spoke with a paediatric dietitian and she said he will need it until he's at least two years old. At that point, he can switch to rice milk (rice milk doesn't have enough fat or calories for the growing/developing mind prior to two years of age, which is why he has to stay on Nutramagin until then).
Many kids who are allergic to dairy milk are also allergic to goats' milk, so check with your child's allergist, first. I would also caution you on the almond milk suggestion, in case she ends up allergic to nuts as well.

Water.
Once a child is old enough to be weaned they do not need a breast milk substitute -they just need a healthy diet. Most of the population of the world isn't genetically capable of digesting lactose after about age 5-8 years of age.
If you really want something "like milk" then there is rice milk, almond milk, coconut milk, and others.

Almond milk (if no nut allergies) or rice milk. You can find both at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's...(not sure about mainstream grocery stores...possibly rice milk but almond milk is a bit more difficult to find)

Either rice milk or formula for another year, then move onto rice milk that is fortified with calcium and vitamin D.

Goats milk is great for many people with milk allergies. You could also try Rice milk down the road too.
