Migraine remedies...?
I know that there's no permanent cure for migraine... u have to learn to live with it. At best, its effect can be reduced. So, i m asking if anyone knows something that would ease the pain, or rather, lessen the freq of attacks.. Something that has worked for u.. any home remedy or anything..? Coz i don't think there's any medication available that would stop its occurrence...
Thanks in advance....

The best of the remedies is yoga... They can reduce the freequency and the intensity of the head aches of migraine.. But REMEMBER all the asanas are not good, some of the asanas can aggravate the pain...!! The best is getting guidance under a good teacher...!! Some of the asanas include
1) all forward bending asanas, But should not be done with head hanging down, but with a suitable rest to the fore head.. the asanas include
uttanasana with head rested on chair
paschimothanasana with head rested on Bolster
swastikasana forward bending with head rested on Bolster
Veerasana forward bending with head rested on Bolster
2) Some relaxation breathing exercises, But these should be done in lying down positions and not sitting... Requires a teacher or a good book
Medical treatment is also quite effective in controlling acute attacks, Try to identify prodromes, usually the person will get to kno that he is going to get a head ache in the next moment.. That time if he/she takes a simple paracetamol, the attack can be prevented..

Have you tried Imitrex? You take it when you first feel one coming on and can take another in 20 minutes - It is a vasodilator - but it really helps. Ask your Dr. for it - and keep it with you always. I even have an injectable - as I have nausea and vomiting with my migraines.
Other than that - I need a quiet, cool dark room to lie down and sleep it off - I can''t take anything with Codeine - so, beyond Aleve, I have Talwin (which is an old Class 3 pain reliever) -
Migraines also have "triggers" - food or additives that trigger them sometimes - figure out what yours are - for instance: Sulfites - found in frozen seafood, on salad bars to preserve them, in red wines, etc. MSG - Monosodium glutamate flavor enhancer - found in Chinese food and other items- like gravy mixes, etc.
Hope this helps ---

migraines that last that long are suspicion of a brain tumor. Talk to your doctor and see if going to a neurologist for a brain ct is something you should do. Cranial pressure is a big cause of migraines along with diet. People prevelant to migraines should avoid green leafy vegetables, bacon, garlic, avocados, caffiene, chocolate, processed meats, processed cheeses and alot of other foods that a neurologist can print out for you.
