So, my graduation is in a couple days?
My graduation is in a few days, and today was my last official day of high school. I've gotten some really bad advice and some really good advice today. I was just wondering if you had any more advice for me on entering the "real world".

First of all, let's abandon the overused and somewhat ridiculous phrase, "the real world". I can assure you, and unless I am greatly mistaken, high school and adolescent life is indeed real. Firstly, you must understand your plans. Do you plan to go to college? Work while in college? Go straight into work? Sit down with your family and discuss with them your plans. They should provide the best resource for assistance and guidance (if this is not so, then please forgive me.) One you know what you plan to do, research how you should do it. What schools within your price range offer what you wish to study? Are there any scholarships or financial aid programs available to you? Is your school near a location that will allow you a desirable part time job? Be confident in yourself. You can never hope to succeed if you are always second guessing yourself. If you are unsure, ask. This does not make you weak or foolish, but rather strong and wise. Better to ask for help and learn, than to make a preventable mistake and cost yourself a great opportunity. No one is perfect. To quote an anonymous saying I have come to love, "You may never make a discovery if you are afraid to make a mistake." Above anything else, believe in yourself. Don't give in to negative peer pressure. If you set your heart on achieving something, you have the power to make it happen. Avoid people and situations that may prevent you from achieving your goals. Have fun. If you come home crying every night, you may want to consider a different course of study or job. You should love what you do while gaining the best experience to prepare for a great future. Your future is in your hands. Go make it happen.
