1999 Honda Civic Si vs 1999 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T?
Im wondering which one would be faster.
Assuming that both cars have the stock engines and are both manual, which one would be better performance wise?
Specs on boths cars would be appreciated.
Im not asking about saving fuel or dependency or stuff like that.
Just performance. Hp, 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, etc. Stuff like that.
Yea, thats what I originally thought.
I have an SI, so I knew that it had 160 HP and after looking at wikipedia it showed that a 99 Passat 1.8T has 150, but of course that's Wikipedia and the reliability is almost none considereing anybody can alter the info.
Any more info comparing the two cars are appreciated.

The other answer that says since the Passat has a turbo it would be faster is incorrect. Although the Passat's motor is turbocharged, it still has 10 less horespower than the Civic Si. And even though it has a lot more torque, the Civic's lightweight makes up for this. According to the data I have found the Civic is quicker.
1999 Honda Civic Si:
Horsepower: 160
Torque: 111
0-60 mph: 7.2 seconds
1/4 mile time: 15.7 seconds @ 88mph
1999 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T:
Horsepower: 150
Torque: 155
0-60 mph: 7.9 seconds
1/4 mile time: I could not find any info on this, but I am guessing it would be in the low 16's

the civic would beat the passat, but the civic will lose to the jetta 1.8t cuz its a lot lighter then the passat, or the gli jetta will beat the civic also

Well is well know that any vehicle in the VW line that has a T has a turbo so I would say the Passat would smoke the civic any day.
