If you are black and voted for Obama, did you do it solely based on race?

I've been told by many of my black friends they did...they didn't vote on issues. By the way, he is not the first black president, but perhaps the first bi-racial president.

And many whites voted for McCain for the same reason. If you haven't notice, President Obama had people of all races voted for him. McCain base was like 99.9% white. I beleive McCain receive 70% of the white vote. Is that racist? <3

I'll admit, I did at first (which is part of the reason) and because Obama is a Democrats, I wanted to see what he will do after Bush did a lot of messing up.

    I'm also a Democratic

When 90% of blacks voted for Kerry, Gore, and Clinton, do you think they did it solely on race too? The vast majority of blacks have been voting for Democrats since the 1960s, and it has had nothing to do with the race of the candidate then, so why would it be any different this time?

Barak Obama's electoral victory expresses the need both of the rulers and the ruled to overcome an unbearable situation, inherited from the Bush Administrations years: deterioration of living conditions, growing unemployment, a ballooning consumer, corporate, and public debt, gigantic deficits, recession and a financial catastrophe - together with an equally catastrophic impasse in the international "war on terror" in the Middle East and Central/ South Asia.

The new Obama Administration is an instrument at the hands of US imperialism to manage its crisis; its policies inescapably at some point will clash violently with the great expectations risen in the masses of workers and oppressed minorities mobilized for its victory.

I voted for him because he promised to pay my mortgage until I get a government job in the new universal health care bill.

You can say the same about whites especially the ones who are bigots. Who cares as long as people are voting. This is America and you can vote for whoever you want for any reason. $:

I am a white guy who will speak for every black guy in America: Yes, they all voted for Obama, and it was only because he is black. All of them, for that lone reason.

Probably. Their has to be some reason why people voted for him. Who in their right mind votes for a man with very little experience compared to a man who is a war veteran, and has practically grown up in politics. It makes no sense to me.

Lots of white people voted for him simply cause he is black too. bad way to get a President-good way to get a screwed up country.

Source(s): Seeing the US being screwed up since the black man took over.
