Excuse for U.S invading Iran?

Does anyone else think that America is about 3 months away from Invading Iran?

I mean with the rigged election which will probably be followed by a revolution and maybe a mini civil-war (people vs the military)

Can anyone else imagine that Mir Hossein Mousavi (the losing candidate) will call to America for help in securing an honest democracy?

Or will we have to wait until the next Republican president before it's Invasion time again?

I hope we would not invade. I could understand if somebody said, "Iran has the bomb, we have to invade" that would be consistent with the start of the war in Iraq, but there are a couple of things. Look what happened in Iraq, not only were there no MMD, we got stuck there for years. I don't think we would make another mistake like that.

The only thing that might happen would be if there was a 'surgical' air strike launched either by us or Israel to take out nuclear facilities, that might happen. That happened once in the 80's or some time when Israel hit a nuclear plant under construction. That did not lead to war between Israel and Iran, but an attack now no doubt would. I don't think America wants another war in the Mideast.

some people think the last bush election was fixed, altered or repaired to suit a republican mandate. Try to remember back to the days of the Shah Pavlovi (please excuse spelling),He was a ruthless dictator that had lost touch with the common citizen and gave rise to the fundamentalists under the even more arcane rule of the ayatollah. How much power and money would these mid east nations have with out oil revenue. Have we not created another elephant in the room with our own lack of commitment to alternative fuels? If I am not mistaken the US was responsible for the shah's being in power anyway. Invasion should not be the preoccupation of any nation, even if they have the power to destroy the world several times over. who wins??

  • Listen, the last thing America wants to do is invade Iran.

Just study the country topographically on a world map. It's enormous and filled with mountains. It would be a logistical nightmare, in addition to our gingerly stepping out of Iraq and God only knows what about Afganistan.

Also keep in mind the Iranian Army fought the Iraqis for 10 years; they're fierce and passionate, and probably the most intelligent of all those God forsaken cultures. And industrialized, with all sorts of friends who would be delighted to provide raw materials.

However, we have a right to exist as the USA. Were there attacks against us, we would instead have to destroy Iran, and that would be wrong on so many levels that it scares me. The same with North Korea.

Diplomacy between the two countries must be pursued, unless of course you're looking forward to WW III.

We have absolutely no reason to invade Iran. It doesn't matter if they have a revolution or a civil war. It's none of our business. Iran is an independent sovereign nation and how they run their government is their own problem.

And there is nothing written anywhere that says that all nations on the planet have to be democracies. Nor does every country have to like us. The U.S. does not rule the world.

well seeing as we've been in a 8 year war with the taliban and al-qaida(or w/e the hell you call it) and still haven't managed to beat them...i wonder how we'll do against whole countries. Especially North Koreas which has the 5th strongest millitary. Yeah America has the 2nd but with Iran, taliban, al-quaida plus china and russia breathing down our necks it won't help much.

not to mention north korea has an itchy trigger finger when it comes to launching nukes

The US is not going to invade Iran, lest we start WW3. Iran's nuclear ambition is being financed by Russia and China. If we attack Iran's nuclear sites, we're bringing the other super powers into the conflict. Which is exactly why we haven't done so yet, despite our threats. There is much more going on there than the American main stream media will report.

It's best to hope Iran's people will start a new revolution and take back their own country.

It is disgusting to see how many Americans on here care what happens in the Iranian election when they didn't care at all that OUR election reeked with lies, media manipulation, illegal campaign donations and voter fraud!

Anyways, I didn't like the way Obama said he wants to "avoid us being an issue" in it instead of saying we would not get into it. I am also concerned that he kept repeating how WE feel about what is happening in Iran and Democracy. It sounds to much like one of his "inspirational" campaign speeches. I think this is an intro that is going to lead to our involvement, including military involvement.

Perhaps we ought to see what happens for the time being? Looks like another revolution in the works. Maybe they'll toss the Mullah's out.

I hope that doesn't happen. Iran has 12,000,000+ paramilitary and I think It would be a terrible mistake especially If Iraq,Afghanistan, and Iran all went after the US. We'd be f'ed

I think there would be a draft
