Algebra question need help please?

2x/3 + 4 = x - 5

can some show me how to do and the answer as well please.

    the thing you need to do is get the x alone.

    subtract 4 from both sides.

    you'll end up with 2x/3=x-9

    now cross multiply because x-9 really equals x-9/1

    you'll get after you cross multiply 2x=3x-27

    subtract 3x from both sides. you end up with -1x=-27

    divide both sides by -1 and you'll get x=27

    now plug it in for the x values and check, IT WORKS :D

    -x/3 + 4 = -5

    subract 4 from left and right

    -x/3 = -9

    multiply by -3

    x = 27
