Digital camera turning on and off.?

My Pentax OPtio M30 will not stay on. Whenever I turn it on, the lense pops out a few times, beeps and then turns back off. I have not daamaged my camera and want to know what this happened suddenly. The camera was fine yesterday when I used it.

Update:

The camera came with a battery and a charger. It's not the normal batteries you get in a store.

It's possible the battery isn't holding its charge because you have used it a LOT in the last two years or so. There isn't enuff power to do anything but start up and shut down.

If it hasn't been bumped or dropped I would say take it into a Pentax dealer to have a look before buying another battery.

I could be batteries, but it could also be your charger and the cells on the camera them selves. You might want to call the 800 number and get it serviced.

    It's probably just your batteries.
