Why is everyone convinced Brett Favre is better than Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels?

What I'm trying to say is, it was clear Brett could not finish a 16 game season. Say all you want about how bad Jackson is, if you want to win a championship, you need a guy whose gonna make it thru the first 16 and the last 3 or 4 in the playoffs.

Also, we've seen Brett literally throw away the season at the end. He threw the pick to propel the Giants to the Super Bowl and threw 3 picks in a lost to Miami, helping the previously 1-15 Dolphins clinch the AFC East.

Everyone says Minnesota is poised to win a Super Bowl but I don't see it happening with a guy who can't finish the season. Why didn't the Vikings make moves to acquire a QB through a trade, or the draft or pick up Leftwich perhaps?

Your thoughts? Keep it civil.

Actually, I think the Vikes' QBs last season had 22 TDs and 17 INTs, IIRC. Last season, Favre had 22 TDs and 22 INTs. So just from the stats, he may not be much of an improvement.

But Favre is an experienced leader who likely could get a lot out of the WR corps of the Vikings. I'd worry about his health, but not about his arm or his brains. With the kind of running game AP could provide, Favre could probably do quite well in Minny.

Were I running that team, however, I would forget Favre or any other one-and-done plug-in & try to get TJ or Rosenfels an opportunity to create some rhythm over several years. The Vikings' window of opportunity to make a Super Bowl run is far from finished, so why not try to think long-term?

i completely disagree with you.. what do you mean cant make it through the season-brett has started like 15 years straight..he did have a banged up shoulder at the end of the year last year but i would take an injured brett over a healthy jackson or rosenfels.. jackson is way behind in the processing of information that it takes to take a team to the super bowl.. he has trouble reading defenses and completing the downfield throws.. rosenfels is better than jackson but who can forget how he gave away a big lead last year against indy when he threw the pick 6 and fumbled on his attempted dive.. all in all, favre is a hall of famer with something left in the tank while the vikings' present qbs have no more talent than to be nfl backups..

Starmark, I couldn't have said it better. When the Jets were 8-3, Brett had 21 TDs and only 13 INTs. He was in the top 3rd in the QB categories. He was the leading candidate for MVP and the Jets were being called "the team to beat to go to the Super Bowl". After the injury, the team's attitude changed. Favre had made them play above their abilities. Favre is a winner and makes the players around him play better. That's something that even the average fan should be able to recognize.

Wow. Okay, Favre is better than the other two because if you watch football at all then you have your answer. How can explain it better than that? Do you watch the NFL? As for the INT against the Giants, that happens. Favre was the reason the Packers even got there. He didn't "fade". The Packers team as a whole seemed ill-prepared for the cold. The Giants were more focused. If you watched the Packers that season, they got beat bad by the Bears earlier that season in cold weather. They were the youngest team in the league and simply didn't know how to handle the cold weather. That game looked more as if the whole team was giving up and Favre (and Driver) was the only player left giving his all. So Favre forced a pass to the only WR he trusted enough. The other young guys might even have been open, but had long ago been too hampered by the cold and almost seemed to have given up. That's why Favre threw the INT. The Giants win in OT. He didn't fade. He played the whole season, giving it his all to an organization that gave up on him.

As for the Jets, Favre still gave it his all. He didn't fade there either. He had an injury. THAT SORT OF THING HAPPENS TO ATHLETES. The problem is that athletes still want to play even when they get injured. It is the coaches and trainers that need to say, "hey, we need to get this guy out of there for the good of the player and the team." The problem with the Jets is that they didn't really have another QB good enough to play behind Favre. They released Pennington after all. It was Favre or nothing. He still gave them the best shot they had to win. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Injury and all, he gutted it out and tried his best. Few people could do that. It might have been easy to say, "this hurts so I'm going to sit out." But Favre tried to win in the face of tremendous criticism and pain. It didn't work out too well as we know. Yet to say bad things about the guy because he tries his best for his employer even when he's hurt is just ridiculous. I call that brave and the very reason why the Vikings want him.

With Favre, you know what you are going to get. You get someone who will give it his all. Yes, he wants to win. Yes, he might want to get back at the Packers staff. But above all, he wants to play because it is in his blood. And you better believe he can still do it with the best of them, assuming his arm heals. I believe it will. He had the surgery for a reason. Come this next year, he will be throwing that ball, maybe not like he did in 1996, but he will be throwing it pretty darn hard. Be prepared to see some Favre-like moments (the good stuff) this up-coming season.

You want to know why the Vikings want Favre? Because they want to win a superbowl. That is something Packer's GM Ted Thompson will never understand.

Nobody looks at Favres last seven games as a Packer. You think Thompson would have let him go if he thought he could take then them to the SuperBowl! He saw Favre was breaking down in the final half of the season! Look what he did against the Bears,Cowboys and finalythe Giants. It showed once again with the Jets!I always thought they should have been in serious talks with the Brocos with Cutler! He will do jack shi* with the Bears because the line sucks just as much as their recivers!Jackson is still young and is still is the futrue of the Vikings!Lets remember Favre has won 3 playoff games in 11 years!Tell me what you want this man is not going to the SuperBowl. He is on the downside of a great carrer. This is not the 90s!Age is a factor here

Bottom line,Favre is better because of experience with that offense,he's got a much stronger arm,has seen everything a defense can throw at him,and he was hurt for a decent chunk of the season.Without Favre Jets wouldn't have been where they were but if it makes youfeel better Im sick of all the media coverage. He's a legend and I feel he should stay retired. He still would make the Vikings better though

Well Favre is by far better at leading and controlling that offence he's done it for 15 + years.

Although favre did bad in newyork he also had a gimp shoulder which he had an operation on not to mention not much of an offense to work with. If adrian peterson or a similar RB were in newyork favre would have done better.

Also lol wait for it ..the madden curse. favre had been struck by.

plus Favre went through alot not knowing if he was going to play at al and if he was where it would be. Favre is a great proven Qb .

with the jets though he was asked to take control of a completely different offense and playbook. whereas the vikings run a simila offense and playbook to that off the packers.

He had surgery recently to repair his torn bicep. If that surgery was successful, then, Favre would be an immeasurable improvement to the Vikes QB squad. The more this story goes on, the more I want to see Brett come back and prove all the haters wrong. I'll be pulling for him. Just not against the Cowboys.

If Vikings fans think Favre is going to take them to the promised land then they are sadly mistaken. Drama boys career is over and its been over for two years now. He will choke down the stretch just like he did last year. You can take that to the bank.

Maybe because Favre is one of the greatest players to ever play the game and Jackson sucks.

Favre was hurt last year. What about that fact is it that some of you don't understand? Didn't he throw 6 TD's in one game before he got hurt? Didn't he make the Pro-Bowl and was an MVP candidate before he got hurt?

DID YOU GUYS JUST START WATCHING FOOTBALL IN WEEK 11 OF LAST YEAR?????
