How many rat owners use linen bedding instead of the normal stuff?

Many rat owners use fleece fabric, as it is the safest fabric to use. Other fabrics have fibers that can easily wrap around necks, feet, etc and cause serious injury. I once used a towel in a degu cage, and he managed to chew it, and get the strings(fibers) wrapped around his neck.

I use fleece blankets in my rat cages, as they tend to be cheaper(I got mine at a store for $2.00 each, and cut them into about 4 cage liners.).

i have a 3 story cage so i use a fleece blanket on the bottom and linolium on the other 2 stories. This makes it really easy to wipe clean and i wash the fleece blanket every week and replace it with another 1. (so make sure you get 2, or get a large 1 and cut 2 out)

I got mine for £2 from asda!! I woudn't use linen as they may catch nails and toes in the fibres, leading to injury.

You also need to get more than 1 rat as they are very sociable and require company of other rats. If they are alone, they often get depressed and this can lead to early death. However they must be in same sex pairs or groups.

I cut up old t-shirts and they put them in there kleenex boxes for sleeping. But for bedding, I use the aspen wood chips because it has the best oder control. Usually I put layers of stuff on the bottom of the cage: Carefresh, Aspen wood chips, and shredded newspapers. It absorbs all the stuff, so it doesn't stink as much.

In my smaller rat cage I use carefresh bedding. In my ferret nation cage model #142 I line the levels with sheets and throw in alot of old shirts and towels.

Congrats on getting a rat they are great pets! I had one and i used a couple things: shredded cedar carefresh and my old clothing. The best is carefresh (from petco) old clothing works because its comforting because it has your smell on it. You can use cedar but be careful some rats can be allergic to it.

well i use old clothes in my rats cage. i find it alot easier to clean. i use a blanket on the bottom of their cage, when its dirty i shake it out then turn it over
