Should we keep our noses out of what's going on in Iran?

It's obvious that they are headed toward civil war. I think we should just let them destroy themselves from the inside out. That way the US can't be blamed for interfering with their government and in the end they will have no one to blame but themselves.

Update:

I am not saying they I want them to destroy themselves from the inside out, but it appears that is what may happen. I want them to be free but sticking our noses in it would serve no purpose except to piss of the current psycho leadership and make the US the bad/fall guy.

The people demonstrating are about 30 years old. They are not of the same philosophy of the mullahs and the other kooks.

I am for them and hope they succeed.

I'm failing to grip this. Muslims will hate us if we continue to meddle? We will continue to meddle as long as we remain Muslim public enemy #1.

As for Iran, we should stay out, but keep a very close watch on it. As long as they have nuclear capability, a destabilized government will have a very itchy trigger finger. We need to allow the CIA to continue covert 'watching' operations and plausible deniability, so we have eyes on the ground with first-hand info. The best part of this story is that Mousavi and Ahmadinijad are really the same people, wrapped in different cloth.

Dimwitted Republicans think America can and should solve the world's problems. Obama is correct to stay out of Iran's internal issues.

I think it's excellent that after 30 years of oppression the Iranian people are striking a stance for freedom, especially women. I think we as Americans should help this process as much as we can. I am old enough to remember when the Shah was ousted and the Islamic stronghold that ensued after that and it was heart-breaking. The people are fighting for a saner Iran government, and a saner government is what is in the interest of the US and the rest of the world, particularly with Imabignutjob's desire to build The Bomb. Get those crazy nutcases OUT of the there!

Great article on women's role in the present unrest.

EDIT- My God, do you people who are saying no even know what you are talking about? No wonder people like Imabignutjob stay in power.

    Friggin scary.

Maybe, maybe not. Leaving Hitler alone 70 years ago didn't prove to be the best idea.

For now we should stay out of it but we should pay attention to what's going on and we should comment on the importance of fair elections to the democratic process.

    Directly, NO. Indirectly, YES.

We are currently in all the neighboring countries, the least we could do is use these governments to directly support the protesters and opposition leaders.

I mean, I wholly believe we should not stand by idly while people are being massacred.

My sympathies are with the protesters, but I think we should keep our noses out. Not so they can destroy themselves, but in hopes that without our inserting ourselves, they can reach a better resolution.

It's none of our business. Honestly, who cares if Iran is free. Obama realizes that the world is none of our business. Besides the republicans acted without considering what the international community thought, the president knows that Europe will respect us again if we mind our own business. Muslims will continue to hate us if we meddle in their affairs.

    I also agree 100%

unless they invite someone like jimmy carter

to sort out their election disaster

we should stay out and let the iranians

    handle their own affairs

(the cia no doubt is there anyway)

Yes and not because they will "destroy themselves" but because we will only be used as a fake enemy by the government.
