I'm 21 weeks pregnant with a cervix measurement at 2.49.?
So my doctor told me my cervix was barely too short, 2.49, and she's going to measure me again in a month. She didn't put me on bed rest or anything, just told me to watch for successive contractions (6 within an hour). All I know is that a short cervix is a risk factor for preterm labor and I'm worried because I'm only 5 months. I was wondering if other women out there reading this has had similar situations? If so, how did your pregnancy go? I've read about it on the internet but there's nothing but horror stories on there, and most have very very short cervix measurements, I don't see any articles that closely pertain to me.

Preterm labor is not something to mess around with & your doctor should check again within the week to check for any progression - NOT in a month. She should continue closely monitoring you after that also. Look into a cervical cerlage(placing a stitch in your cervix, to prevent premature dialation) & if it sounds like something that you would do, let her know right away! Remember that noone loves your baby more than you, so they will never take your baby's life as seriously as you do & by the time that you are feeling contractions, it could very well be too late. Please make sure that you get your cervix checked again soon. If your OB won't, see another. I wish you & your baby the best! Good luck!!

Looks like you got short cervix. I do.. that's why I always end up with cervical cercalage and bed rest.. shortening cervix is worrisome.. I hope your Doc will take correct decision and keep an eye on you..
Once during my 19th week I measured 2.5 CM.. my doc did not let me go from the hospital, put me in the bed and did the rescue cervical cercalage next day itself, afterwards I was on bed rest for the rest of my pregnancy..
I don't understand why your Doc took this so lightly.. appointment after 1 month??? she is crazy, goto a high risk Doc immdtly and save your pregnancy and your Baby

Don't panic your doctor will let you know if there is a real risk of pre term labour and there are medications to stop the labour if needed.
