Should I leave the democratic party?

I mean I agree with them in a lot of the issues, but they have no spine. They are in power, and they still won't get universal healhcare? I think if you believe in something and you don't fight for it just to saty in power, then you don't deserve my vote to stay in power

I agree. You should leave. Both parties are nuts. Be an independent.

The ones with a spine are in the Democratic Party. The problem is that there are a small number of so-called moderates who wield a lot of power. From what I've read, the Senate is trying in good faith to forge a compromise health care bill with Republican support, but the liberals in the House have said that if it does not include a public option, they will torpedo it and use a different method of passing the bill (one that requires only a simple majority) to get something more progressive. I'd at least wait until the end of summer before deciding if you want to protest. My hope is that the Democrats ignore the Republicans and pass a good progressive health care bill. I think the chances of that happening are greater than 50-50, given the high levels of popular support for such health care.

Barack Obama mentioned the need for the people to get out and rally to support the ideas he knew would serve our interests. Its not about voting for a party and sitting back and watching them do or die, it is about accountability and pressuring them to do things for the people or simply doing it without them. I know from studying history that even when there were hardly any presidents who did anything of their own choice to help people, things got done like in the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Movement, the Black power movement, and others. However, remember that it is not "the Democrats" holding up progress. (and if you leave them I hope you don't think that Republicans are an alternative because it is like letting the fox watch the chicken coop. Remember George Bush put us in this situation.) Republicans, moderates, and bureaucrats who used to profit off of a broken healthcare system are crying out against Obama because they want things to stay the same. Just because things are hard to change it does not mean give up. I am not a democrat, but when I vote I vote Democrat although I am not in favor of everything they stand for. Whatever else I want to see I organize to make it happen. The other parties don't have enough strength to win and many of them are one-issue parties with a limited scope. We cannot risk putting republicans in because they are clear oppressors and dead weight as far as progress goes. Some at least Democrats allow space for us as a people to make necessary changes.

Niether party will give you universal health care. Niether party will EVER change the abortion issue. They wont do anything to piss off their main contributors that are CEO and Big business. The sooner america realizes this, the sooner we can get back to government that works for the people and not FOR PROFIT organizations.

They use these issues to drive a wedge between people and the debate always boils down to MONEY and religous issues.

    No.

Universal health care is unrealistic and too costly given the circumstances.

Other nations that have universal health care started from scratch when they put the system in place.

But we have to build on the system we currently have.

This is a nation where people are picky about choosing their doctors.

Obama is offering a plan that gives everyone a voluntary public option at which they can choose to buy health insurance at an affordable rate.

Meanwhile, those happy with their current plan are free to stick with it.

    Sounds fair enough.

    Nothing is wrong with that.

Clinton tried pushing universal health care and failed...........Obama's plan is more likely to succeed because he's giving everyone a say in the matter.

Leave or stay but consider this.

You seem to want 'universal health-care', right!

Well after it is enacted and after it has destroyed private health-care, do you really believe that the politicians will be using the same lousy health-care you will be forced to use?

Be careful what you wish for..........it may come to get you!

No. You need to urge your representatives to stand up and fight for universal health care.

Remember that the health insurance companies are throwing millions at the legislators, including Democrats, to defeat universal health care. Right now the insurance companies have more influence than the American people do but we can change that equation.

I agree with you whole heartedly.

Obama seems to be soft on crime. All of the crimes on the former administration should at least be investigated. We spent millions going after Clinton and Nixon when real crimes were perpetrated with no recourse.

Obama seems too willing to get along with the savages of the far right wing who have gotten us this far in debt and in low world wide favor.

Don't give up! just like with this country. Don't leave it, fight to make it right!!

Where is your outrage Mr. President?
