    atm, I'm liking electrics.

I've been playing for 11 years; just completed the Suzuki program.

    and I'm bored of playing.

I wouldn't recommend going electric until you've been playing at least 8 years.

Electrics have so many more opportunities, but you need to know how to play a normal violin first. and know the technique and have some repertoire.

    Dependable Electric violins:

    NS (ned steinberger)

    Wood Violins

    Jordan

Yamaha (only if you have no other option)

    Fender (yes, they make eviolins)

    Zeta

I have a violin that is an acoustic-electric. That is to say, it is both! If you can't decide you should get one of those. It's absolutely beautiful. I mean, I've only been playing for 6 months about, but I think it's the most nifty thing.

I play both, but I play folk music. In my band, I use a Ted Brewer Vivo2.

He makes violins for Vanessa-Mae. Check out his website, www.tedbrewerviolns.com and watch her play Sabre Dance. Electric and violin can certainyl be used together. She is awesome!!! an electric violin has the advantage of not giving feedback, but of course it cannot be played in public without an amplifier.

Acoustic, mainly because I play classical music and I could never imagine playing classical on an electric violin.

Acoustic. The word electric should never be used with violin.

    I really enjoy both.

If I could only have one, I would get an accoustic and put a top of the line pickup on it. Then you have both in one package.

All violins are a little different. This way you would be comfortable with what works as 2 different instruments.

Source(s): Have played both and now use an accoustic electric.

I like acoustic best; I think with electronic violin, you have to play in a band, for the most part, which can also be very virtuosic, but it's just not something I do.

Acoustic is very relaxing to me , but imagine you become famous someday, you have to perform in front of around 70.000 fans in a stadium, the second one will help.
