Is science a circular logic?

Some atheists were saying the bible can't be used as proof of god because it uses circular logic, but science is based on other science, so does that make it circular logic?

(legitamite question, not trying to bash anyone, i might be wrong here)

do you know what circular logic is?

On the surface yes because you are speaking of Science as a big unified thing. However, really science is made up of all kinds of different ideas building on each other. And while it is true that the newer ideas are based on the older ones, the older ideas do not depend on believing in the newer ideas.

    I'll give an example:

The structure of DNA was discovered in the 1950s. Based on this, scientists later on developed theories on how viruses replicate (by injecting their DNA into host cells). This is a one-way street -- you don't have to know about viral replication in order to understand how DNA works.

You need to learn the scientific method.

The short answer is a resounding no! In the scientific method you form a hypothesis to explain an observed phenomenon. The hypothesis must make predictions which are testable, repeatable and falsifiable. There is nothing circular about that.

Science looks at the evidence. The addition of empirical observation and experimentation is not circular.

Science is progressive logic. Even when science is based on other science we are perfectly free to go back and repeat the original studies and experiments if you doubt them (and want to waste that much time on a study that has already been done).

    No.

A christian saying, "The bible is true because the bible says that its true, and its the word of God because thats what it says in the bible."... THAT is circular logic.

The claims of science are based on observations that can be observed in real life.

Science isn't based on science, it's based on observation of the natural world and theory. Silly!

Far from it, it's based off hypothesis (educated guesses) that were tested over and over several times.

Before anything is even accepted as a theory much less a fact, it has to be tested several times and scientists must be able to get the same results if they perform the experiment.

Science is based on evidence and observable facts.

Since "other science" is usually based on observation of natural occurances, no.

Science is based on evidence, the bible is based on...the bible.
