Do you think white adults who act ghetto have dissociative identity disorder?
It is one thing for a kid or a teenager to try and fit in and act differently around different people. I did as a teenager. The teenage years are the years of identity vs self-confusion. Image is everything.
But for those types of whites who do not grow out of it and who did not grow up in an inner city ghetto, which most do not, don't you think that there may be a problem and that they may have self-esteem issues?
Historically living in a ghetto meant that a group of people were cut off from the rest of society and were oppressed such as blacks back in the old days in America or Jews in Warsaw Poland during the Third Reich.
Besides, you should not have to pretend to be someone who you are not in order to be accepted by someone. If I went out on a date with a woman of another race, I would not try to act like someone I am not in order for them to like me better. I would act the same as I would around a girl of my own race.
Not to mention that this poser behavior is kind of racist because it represents a small negative part of Black America such as what you see in the rap videos while they are ignoring positive aspects of Black American culture.
I know this is a controversial topic, but I really would like some input.

I don't know that I'd slap a disorder on them. I really just think it's a matter of their environment and upbringing. They never learned right from wrong - what's respectful and what's not. They were taught that certain behavior is good and cool and gets you respect. The fact that they are of adult age doesn't really make a difference. I know plenty of adults who refuse to "act their age" in regards to spending money, getting a job, caring for their children, attire, vernacular, etc. The 'white adults who act ghetto' are just a small subset of these people. They probably know that they're losers who are going no where, so they purposefully design their appearance and character to a fit that fact by piggybacking on an over-used stereotype.

People with untreated schizophrenia have delusions, hallucinations and incoherent speech. It is usually treatable with medication, and it's thought that there is a genetic component to the disorder. Dissociative Identity Disorder is a condition that is usually caused by severe, prolonged trauma/abuse at a young age. It is more closely related to Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome than schizophrenia. DID was formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder, but was renamed about 15 years ago. The diagnosis is still considered controversial, but recent studies have suggested that as many as 1% of the population may have DID. That means 1 out of every 100 people could be walking around with it. Considering other statistics that show at least 1 out of every 4 children is abused, this shouldn't seem unbelievable. What makes DID hard to diagnose and hard for people to believe is the fact that people with DID are usually able to function quite effectively in society and hide their disorder. Survival is a skill they had to learn at a young age. Medication can usually alleviate the symptoms of schizophrenia so the person can function well, but there is no single medicine or group of medicines that can alleviate all the symptoms of DID because it is a result of abuse, not an organic issue within the body. Treatment for DID usually consists of long-term psychological therapy to deal with the abuse that triggered the condition. Showtime has a new TV series called "The United States of Tara" featuring a woman with multiple personalities. If the first two episodes are an example of what's coming, it will be an excellent series.

I don't really agree with the assumption that acting "ghetto" is inherently an African American scene even though African Americans seem to make up a large majority of the "Ghetto" scene.
20 or so years ago I would agree that not all kids have the same access to public schools and educational materials. However, in this day and age there is really no excuse for being an ignorant thug other than that's the life you choose. You can't blame it on anyone but yourself. Everyone has the same opportunity to further your intelligence through free public libraries, free public schools, the internet, etc.
Also, being a thug or gangsta is such a waste of human life. Refusing to get jobs, refusing to learn how to properly read and write, destroying English grammar, and killing people because they worse the same hat is just stupid. These people need to contribute to society or kill themselves.

So you're saying because I'm black I'm automatically required to act ghetto because that's apart of my identity? So if I act the total opposite I'm suffering from "dissociative identity disorder"
LOL Hilarious. The person below me is just as dumb and clueless.

They are complete tools; there are Whites who are into Urban culture , as adults, who don't act like that
With that said, they are HELLA annoying. Everything Black people come up with , White people try to steal. They stole Rock & Roll, They stole Country, and now they are trying to steal Hip Hop. Good luck doing that

And I suppose you think that when a Black person acts non-ghetto then they're suffering from dissociative identity disorder too, right?

It's called being a wannabe!
I think they can't handle the fact that they're growing up and try to hide it by acting immaturely. I think if people would film them and show them how stupid they looked, they'd grow up. Even better, if you get attractive women to come up to them and make fun of them, they'd change their act.
It's called TOUGH LOVE!
