Thoughts on North Carolina?

My roommate and I are looking for a change and we've thought about moving to North Carolina. So I'm asking all you twenty-somethings living somewhere near Raleigh to help me out? Yay or nay? Give me some details, like how easy it is to get a job (we're both in the health care field), rent prices, pay rates, night life, just general stuff!!!

I'm living in Raleigh and I think it's great. Try to avoid places near NC State campus. You would think being near a campus would be pretty safe, but for some reason, NC State is not that great of a place to live.

I love it here, people are very nice and it has a very charming place. As far as getting a job goes, I'm sure being in the health care field you will find a lot of places for a job. There's Duke Medical which I believe is on the north side. There's also Wake Forrest. You could also check cities like Clayton and Smithfield.

As far as rent goes, I personally find it amazingly cheap...but then again I'm from Chicago where things are god awful expensive. Check Autumn River Apartments. I have a friend who lives there and he loves the place. The rent is pretty cheap compared to a lot of places, it's most definitely cheaper then mine and the place is gorgeous. The apartments have pretty big living space along with a pool and work out area (which is open 24/7), and the people are very nice to their renters.

As far as nightlife, that is something Raleigh lacks unfortunately lol.

*I'd like to comment on the answer below mine. It's a bit off comparing it to other places. Raleigh can hardly be considered a big city...and finding a job seems to be a little easier then other places, especially in your field. However, the economy is bad and it is still a bit difficult. You should have no trouble at all though. I know a few health care workers who have scored great jobs during this depression. As far as the weather, I'm not sure where you're coming from either, however, it does get a bit hot here. I believe right now it's currently 95 degrees? It's a bit to warm in most people's opinion, however, the winters are perfect. It's a bit chilly, but not to cold. When it snows it doesn't snow to much...however, everything is closed down because NC really doesn't have the means to deal with snow since it doesn't snow much.

And no. There really isn't a lot to do in Raleigh. What there is to do gets old REAL quick.

Raleigh is like any other big city when it comes to jobs. For rent your looking at $700 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment. There is always a lot to do in Raleigh. I don't know where you are moving from, but the weather is fairly nice in NC all year. Nothing to terribly cold nor too hot. I have been living in NC for the last 9 years. I left for my first year of college, but transfered back b/c i missed it.
