Traffic ticket HELP!?

I was pulled over last night for having 5 day old expired tags. I am 16 and I had two passengers in the car (I've only had my license for two months). Not to mention it was also past curfew. On the ticket it has two things written, one for the tags and another for provisional both indicated as an infraction.

My question is, how much is this going to cost me, do I have to go to traffic school and am I going to get my license suspended?

Note, I can post the code and section/description if you need it.

Update:

I live in California

A stern warning form the judge to not do this again. I have seen a traffic judge rant how serious traffic court was. How he could sentence you for a $1,000 fine, a year in jail and or both. That was before the first case was called.

Bring proof of the up to date license to the court.

A lawyer will greatly help you.

The lawyer will cost about $500.

You will probably just get a stern warning with the lawyer.

Without the lawyer you could loose your license and get fined much worse than the $500.

Source(s): Chicago P.D., and watching drivers rolling the dice in traffic court. Usually since you are a very minor offender, and the courts treat as such. Every judge has respected that the offenders brought in a lawyer, that they are serious about the case. And the judge who gave the first rant I put down was because he knew the first four defendents. All four had multiple continances to apy a fine or get a lawyer. The first still could not pay the fine, and the judge sentenced them to two weeks in the cooler. The next two had the same lawyer. The lawyer was not there. The judge warned them to call the lawyer and get his butt in court asap.! So be courteous to the judge and have a lawyer, and you get through this court date much easier. Chicago is not California, but traffic court and the judges are similar.

Traffic court is a joke. You broke no laws. Traffic infractions are not crimes. Injury, loss or damage, violation of someone's rights, that constitutes a crime. You did none of those. Even if you went to court, there is no standing on the issue. The only standing they have is what you give them.

Bottom line is this: Be a responsible traveler, be safe, but don't worry about traffic court. It's a joke. A revenue creating joke.
