God is not the cause of all the suffering in the world, it is because of freewill?
Is that like saying programmer that designs a computer virus that works on freewill is not responsible for the damage it causes, because the virus works with his own freewill?
We all seem to forget that this god is supposed to be omniscient and omnipotent so he could have created a world without suffering if he wanted to, but obviously he didn't want to or he doesn't exist.
CowboyChrisT: So how can anyone believe heaven exists if it is impossible to exist by your argument.

"Men rarely (if ever) manage to dream up a god superior to themselves. Most gods have the manners and morals of a spoiled child." -Robert Heinlein
By comparing god to a computer programmer and thinking a computer virus has free will, you have proven Mr. Heinlein's point.

Being created in a world where I cannot cause suffering does not allow me to have freewill (I can't choose evil). How does it make sense then for God to give us freewill and create a world where only good exists.
Edit: We were talking about this world, not the next. One might say that standing in the presence of God Himself after receiving glorified bodies would keep us from sinning (by our choice) but I could not really tell you.

Plague, disease and disaster are all called "Acts of God" because they have nothing to do with human action.
So, some of the major causes of suffering in the world are God-given.
Like I've never heard anyone blame the Devil for floods, or cyclones, or earthquakes or deadly plagues which kill thousands. In the Bible it is always God who sends those sorts of things.

I'll say it again for the thousandth time: There is no freewill if an omnipotent, omniscient being exists. It's impossible.

Newsflash, Either this god is omniscient and omnipotent or it gives freewill. If it gives freewill, then he cannot be omnipotent or omniscient. These concepts does not gel at all.

Q. "Is that like saying programmer that designs a computer virus that works on freewill is not responsible for the damage it causes, because the virus works with his own freewill?"
A. No, God never created robots. He created human beings with a conscience.
"Our Conscience" meaning:
Con = With
Science = Knowledge
With Knowledge. We have morals that God has written on every heart of every man.. to know right from wrong. Our society is based on moral-laws. This is why we have jails and punishment justifies crime.
The same reason God has made a hell for the devil & law breakers. He gives us a choice. He knew we'd break His laws and sin.. so He made a way for us to be forgiven by the sacrifice of JESUS.
A LEGAL - TRANSACTION took place that was made for us.
1. We broke God's law, (the 10 commandments)
2. Jesus came and paid our fine so that we could walk out of the courtroom scott-free.
3. We have free will to go where ever we desire... so we could choose! How wonderful is that??!!!! :D Now, that's a VERY LOVING GOD!

...it is because of freewill?
No, their are other factors.
God is all those things. While we, as parents, want the best for our children, what good would it be if they couldn't choose chocolate or vanilla?

1. Mad scientist creates robot
2. Mad scientist gives robot artificial intelligence with free will
3. Robot abuses free will to destroy humanity
4. It's the robot's fault?
This scenario makes sense anyway, since Asimov's laws have already been broken (Yep! One robot in Japan could never stop hugging people and was decommissioned).

Yes but then God gave us freewill didn't he?

It is because of freewill?
--I don't believe in 'free will.'

we are robots or not, conscious or not?
