What can i do about 4 goldfish?
i have 3 common goldfish and 1 commet goldfish in a 20 gallon tank, the largest goldfish is a little over 3" but i know my tank is over crowded. the water and all is pretty stable, and i have 1 30 gallon filter and 1 10 gallon filter running, i am going to replace the 10 gallon one soon. but i just need some suggestions about what to do with my 2 extra goldfish i refuse to kill them, i have no room for a tank, i know its illegal to release them despite the fact theres a creek very close by, and my neighbors with a pond will not take them. i wont sell them online or take them to a petstore where they will be shoved in with many other fish and eventually just die. please help me.
i got them from a rescue from a fountain as a school prank actually. i didnt buy them.

Your fish won't die if you keep changing the water weekly! They seem fine! You can probably keep them for close to another year!

Ideally you should get another tank for them. If you cant do that, and insist on using your current tank, I would just do water changes more often.
Maybe twice a week at least, 50% of the water volume. If you can do it more often, all the better. This should help augment your filtration, both mechanical and biological. Water changes are never bad for your fish.
It isn't an ideal solution. But it is better than doing nothing or killing them.
The Craigslist suggestion is a good one...you might be able to find someone willing to adopt them.

No. 4 fancy goldfish might prefer a 50 gallon tank. 4 comets might prefer someplace around a 300 gallon pond. a a million.3 gallon tank isn't sufficiently enormous for any fish in any respect. goldfish attain 18 inches in length and can stay 40 or greater years with ideal care.

1. get a new tank
2. buy a nw tank on craigslist
3. put an add in a pet store to sell your fish
4. try selling them to people in the community or give them to them for free.
5. sell/give them away on craigslist to people in the community.
6. donate them to a hosital/place who could use fish as a way to help patients claim a pet and give them something to be excited about.

first off your fish will survive a lot longer than u think in a 20 gallon, if u are so conseried about them get a bigger tank. and forget crag list or what ever its called, that sight seems so dumb and a waist of time. and i see u say u have no room. so i say take them no where and keep them in a tank, cause if u take them to a store, they will be in a 7-10 gallon tank with lots and lots of fish, if one get ick then all will be sick. so just keep him. after all u bought him.

well, you kinda covered all of your bases.....there's really no other thing to do...I am sure that the petstore will take good care of them. :D
Take them to a local vet and someone will adopt them...ask friends and family if they want them or offer them to a dentist or doctor who has a fishtank...give them as a gift to a child....
-Good luck!-
