Whats with the Habs choosing our sloppy seconds?

Habs over pay for Hal Gill? Last year Georges Laraque....hmmm...

KIDDING. But what was Gainey thinking with that Gill contract? OVERPAID.

What player today do you think has been the most overpaid?

Update:

Contract have been pretty reasonable today except Gill's is still killing me! Lol. I also don't think I would have given Spacek that much either.

I don't know if I think Gill's overpaid. $2.25 million a year isn't too bad, but they're cutting it close with age. Gill's 34. He's past his prime. I agree with whatever they apparently are saying on TSN (I didn't watch the video, just saw the headline) that the Habs don't need to age their blueline.

The Pens are just $5,582,000 under the cap. They extended Goligoski until the 2012-13 season, who will probably play his first full season this season. The Pens probably want to re-sign Gonchar and Letang next season, possibly Eaton. Then Scuderi's a UFA right now.

Sooo... I'd definitely take Scuderi over Gill (or Eaton, actually, and if Scuderi gets a longer deal, Eaton's probably not getting re-signed after next season). Scuderi doesn't command too much salary (yay, cheap!) and he's a solid defensive defensemen who blocks a lot of shots, which is what the Pens need amongst so many defensemen who have more offensive upside.

ps I like the Rupp signing. Cheap (only $825,000 a year for 2 years) and gritty. The Pens could use some grit. Anything to help keep Malkin and Crosby from having to settle their own battles, Crosby especially. (Bad Sid!!)

  • That's okay... them taking Laraque gave us Godard, who is about 500 K cheaper.

I have to say out of all the signings, Hal Gill is the most overpaid. Hossa was a bargain at a $5,230,000 cap hit.

Not a lot of overpaid contracts today.

Gainey needs to go. End of story. He is just horrible. Cant sign Komi, I bet Kovy is leaving... So is koivu. Then overpays for gill. Its one bad move after another.

As for Laraque, you gotta be kidding Stonewall. Id take laraque over godard any day.

STOP SCREWING WITH OUR TEAM, DAMMIT!

Bob, bob, bob... Boy, boy, boy... Bob, bob, bob... Boy, boy, boy...

Mike Camilleri is a hab according to Sportsnet toronto. (rumor, 6 millions per year for 5 years).

oh yeah your question!: I don't think someone is really too much overpaid. If Camilleri's rumor is true I'd say him.

Gainey is trying to do like the Rangers (overpaying) and the Rangers are getting our drafted players (3 so far).
